On my way through the Texas Panhandle I heard a funny noise coming from the driver’s side wheel well. I thought I had run over something but when I went to check I found my fender liner had deformed and was being eaten by my tire.

Is this abnormal or is this why there are metal fender liners - because it is indeed normal?

Oh, and I found out I have an engine heater plug in my 392. I definitely didn’t expect that.
Where is the engine heater plug located?

Wow! Third liner, huh? Were they replaced under warranty?

also, what engine does your Jeep have?
First one was replaced under warranty, the second one was not. Engine is the 3.6.

Yet another example of Jeep quality?. You have to wonder “why?” Jeeps engineers aren’t bright enough to figure out that the engine produces heat? Times like that I realize how much I miss my old, steel, IH Scout?

I’d say abnormal. I recently upgraded to dv8 aluminum vented front fenders on my diesel. Still protection but allows the diesel heat to disperse better

When mine was still stock, I head a strange rubbing noise driving on the highway. I pulled over at the next exit and found half the front left wheel liner missing (i.e. torn off). I took it in to my local Jeep dealer for a warranty fix and the service manager accused me of having put larger tires on, going off-road (because there was dirt in the undercarriage), then switching back to stock tires to make a warranty claim. He said this was obvious since wheel liners don't just fall off.

Yes, he did get an earful from me and he did fix it. And has not said a word to me in my follow up visits.

it has happened to me in really high winds. Not sure if it was a failure or missed during service.

I repaired mine with a bunch of those stickers you get with after market chit. Looks totally legit.
