I have been running 11.06 and have had the Tazer married and unmarried. I haven't seen anything in the voltage pattern that is different with or without. It fluctuates with similar patterns, over time.

You've got to do extended runs in both configurations to make a real comparison. Over time, the pattern looks similar, to me, and mine has never run the battery down.

I’d copy and paste my conversation from someone within FCA about the charging voltages - but I can’t implicate my source.

Drive for a long time - 3 weeks with the tazer on, 3 weeks with it off, in all the same conditions and you’ll see it has no effect.

Several thousand Tazer JL users out there including just about all the big Jeep builders. It’s not killing charging systems. Yes there was something going on with 11.0.6 which could kill a battery on occasion (wouldn’t sleep) but all that is cleared up now in 11.0.8.

I just got my new tazer updated and installed. I think I got it the way I want. The only issue I have now is the the light for my drive configuration 2, N 4H and 4 lol doesn’t come on and I can’t turn the camera while the blinker is on off. It says in the instructions that that is only supposed to work on the 8.4 uconnect but I have the 7 so I don’t know what the deal is.

-__- this post wasn't a how to fix the Tazer forum. It was a what is everyone else using besides the Tazer. Guess I should have been more clear.

I’m going to take a guess here and say most here are running a Tazer but I have heard Flashcal mentioned but not often

As Joe form Zauto advised you need to do some testing, here is my testing I did https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/tazer-ess-battery-testing.20413/

If you don’t want to read thru all the posts just skip to #80 and see my voltsge findings.

Remember the old school days of seeing 14+ volts all the time does not factor in here as the JL utilizes smart charging so the voltsge is supposed to float and if you’re is not seeing that I would unmarry and remove the Tazer and have your charging system checked

Tazer not installed, voltage stays at 14.2 while driving with no fluctuation. Installed Tazer and married, voltage will fluctuate from 12.7 to 13.6 to 14.2 when I step on the brakes. Tazer says normal and it clearly isn't after the Tazer is removed.
Sounds like it works better with the Tazer installed. Seeing 14.2 all the time is an indication that the jeep thinks the battery needs a lot of charge for whatever reason. Normally seeing a fluctuation is a good thing with these smart chargers in the jeep.

I am running a trail cal and haven’t had any issues, I have a sport and like the “off-road page” screen as well as other basic features. I have always ran Superchip products and never had any issues, they have been in the Jeep Wrangler game for quite a while.

Have you moved on yet?
Interested in selling your Tazer if you do?

Seeing 14.2 all the time is an indication that the jeep thinks the battery needs a lot of charge for whatever reason.
Reason: like maybe the ESS dumps a lot of battery charge and the Jeep charging system is trying to keep the batteries at peak with that system in play? Just a SWAG.

14.2 is boost (rapid charge) voltage. ~13.3 is standard charge voltage.

It seems that Z Automotive's Emergency Response Module did exactly what, and only what you want, but is not only out of stock, but "heavier" in cost that the Lite version, which includes, but is not limited to the light show.

https://zautomotive.com/product-category/erm/
Emergence response module discontinued as we now private label it and exclusively sell it as the “z-flash” from Ultra Bright Lightz

As for the charging system, the Tazer isn’t killing batteries or loading charging systems. Before firmware 11.0.8 it did have an issue with proximity try vehicles and battery drain, which had been corrected. Parasitic draw has been greatly reduced to a negligible level as well.
Staring at voltage readings will just drive you nuts. It’s completely normal for voltage to hang in the 14v range at times and to drop to 12 at times.

Can’t really compare to a Flashcal as that can’t be left plugged in anyway.
