I don’t think anyone was “mad” at your statement, just a bit turned off by it.
Who cares?
Being “mad or turned off” by the original post is ridiculous. Quite frankly, if you don’t like or agree with the post, keep scrolling. I’m not sure if it’s just the way the people act online lately or a lot...
Running a larger tire/aftermarket wheel combo will tweak your tailgate. Mine started sagging and twisting out after 4-5 hours of moderate off-roading. I would highly recommend a reinforced set up or remove the spare before you go wheeling.
Sounds amazing, safe travels! I’m with Chocolate Thunder, though, I don’t have the stones to make that drive with just my wife. Driving through Mexico without any of my firearms.....no bueno!
Some do it because the extra weight of a bigger tire and aftermarket wheel is too much for the tailgate to support with out expensive mods. Or on a steep incline when off-roading you can catch the spare and destroy your tailgate. Some just do it for looks.
Honestly, if those are the things that are concerning you, I wouldn’t buy a wrangler. My wife loves my JL but there is no way she would want it for a daily. She’s got a brand new Grand Cherokee that does all the things you questioned way better than a wrangler.
I agree 100%. Wranglers draw a premium out west. Two months ago I got $41K for my 18JKU private party and was offered 36,500 from a dealer on a trade in. It’s all location.
I’m right ther with you, Irishtim. My tailgate is sagging as much as yours and twisted out about 1/4 on the top left. It’s BS and very frustrating.
I have Punk’n too. Lava is too red, my wife got me a Lava grab bar bag. She ordered me a grey two piece sun shade but it got lost via the shipper. I was originally thinking orange but I haven’t seen an orange one on Punk’n to see how it looks.
Speaking from my own experience, I’m not buying anyone’s claims that an aftermarket tire carrier will support a 35 or larger tire without support. My current 35 inch tire/wheel combo weighs 98lbs. After one trip to the desert for four hours, my tailgate is twisted about 1/4 inch on the top left...
I just got new wheels and 35’s this week. I went out yesterday afternoon in the desert for the first time and the tailgate is pulled out about 1/4 inch and sagging about 1/8th inch and has to be lifted to close. For those that haven’t had an issue, you’re lucky. I found out today the tailgate is...
