Truth of the matter is .... best bet is to order the Tazer JL Mini versus the original Tazer JL.

Only possible reason in my opinion, to order the original Tazer JL, is if you do not have a laptop computer to bring out to the Mini when it needs to be updated. Sure you can unplug the Mini and bring it in the house but many guys will not want to unplug ....

IF you do not want all the Tazer features and just plan on say doing tire size change, then do go with the Tazer JL Lite. The Lite can be updated in the future if you want (for a fee) to a full featured Mini.
Very good point on lite being upgradeable to full feature(mini).

Didn't want to statr a new thread for this, but is there a sercret to getting the SGW unplugged?

I can't get a grip on the plug and put the release the the same time, and I definitely cannot contort my body to be looking up in there while trying to do this. :)

Pop the panel out under steering wheel.

I used a large set of forceups to punch the clip and pull on the plug.

That worked for me.

Harbor Freight is where I got 12” forceups

Never thought of using 12" forceps on those connectors... I have a whole bunch of forceps lying around. I will try to use one next time...

I have probably disconnected those two connectors a dozen times plus, since early May. One time they easily disconnect and then the next time they fight me. One time the smaller connector fought me so bad, .... (did not want to release) I ended up with a blister on the tip of my index finger..

IF I still had teen kids living with me, they would be nominated to do the disconnections. You know, small hands, bodies that can contort, etc.. Teens are designed for disconnecting those connectors.

Just reminded me, I have to fool with those two connections this coming week as Joe has a unit on the way for me to try on my JL. Geeez, maybe this time I will have my young gal pal, have a go at the connectors. 8-)

The connectors can be tough to get out and mine were as well, what I did was took a very fine Emory board that one uses on there finger nails and very lightly dressed the edges down very carefully like in take a few light passes then test fit then a few more and test fit and now they are no trouble at all to get out, one has to remember these were not meant to be removed and Installed over and over, I figure even when my warranty expires I will have to remove it at least once a year when I get my vehicle inspected here in Texas

I wish Zauto or someone would make a divice that plugs into that thing and then just has a switch on it. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

That would be cool. One option that might be possible is a 3 or 4” plug extension. That way you don’t have to reach up so far to plug it back to factory.

After having installed and uninstalled three or four times, I find it easiest to go in blind. That way I don’t have to contort my body or even remove the kick plate. Feel for the plug, depress the tab on the engine side while gently yanking down. Putting them back in is easier.

I'm going to have to hit mine with the file. I have to use a long pick from Harbor Freight to get the tabs to depress. It is terrible. I wish I could reach up in there and get them to release like that.

I tried the filing thing and it did not help.
