How close to the actual tire diameter do you have to enter for the correct MPH. Do you just play with it until you get matching speed via GPS? For reference, 37x12.5R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers.
also, what are your favorite and least used features of the Tazer?

I've not used a Tazer for this but my method with any other vehicle has been to adjust it, test drive, adjust it again, test drive, etc. until I'm happy. I use the trip meter vs interstate mile markers instead of GPS speed or distance. The farther the test drive, the better the accuracy. Short ones at first, longer as I get it dialed in. A "test drive" might just be me watching the mile markers and comparing it to my trip meter while I'm on a long drive I was taking anyway.

I bought a Tazer JL Lite in 2020 for tire size and auto stop start memory. I used a sport GPS to compare displayed to actual-ish speed. It took a few small changes to get it right.

I also used it to change TPMS settings, and then to disable TPMS all together, but those required the Tazer to be married. That normally wasn't a problem, but I threw 2 cylinder misfire codes but un-marrying the Tazer to take it in to have that checked out, but it seemed to clear the codes when I unmarried it.

Now I just use the Tazer for auto stop start. I use Alfaobd for disabling TPMS.

I use 36.75 when i used my Tazer for that and when I moved that to Jscan I used the same figure for my KO2’s. Same size as you have. I am running 25x12.5x18 RG’s on her Jeep and I use 34.75 for the tire size and GPS says that I am on the money with both settings.

If you go to the manufacturer's web site, sometimes the tire dealer, you can get the actual OD. That number is the closest you'll get. GPS verify, minor tweak may be needed.

When i had 37s, 36.6 was the closest to waze mph. On 38s now, 37.7 I believe.

I don’t recall my settings but I tested using Waze however, DO NOT test Waze with CarPlay. Keep it disconnected from the infotainment system. The speeds match when connected but are different when disconnected which will help find a more accurate reading.

OK, you are the perfect person to ask: Which is better?
So got a Tazer when I got the jeep but I have a diesel and now that it’s two years old I have to disconnect the Tazer so that the dmv machine can “see” the monitors. I would have to unmarry the Tazer each time and re-marry it once it passed. PITA. I already had a JScan account from my JK days so they swapped it over and I used JScan for tires and tpms threshold and I’m using the Tazer for the ESS switch. Because I’m not using it for anything else, I just unplug it when it’s inspection time. Once GDE releases it latest update, I’m sending my ECU back to reflash it and they can permanently disable the ESS and I’ll stop using the Tazer. With JScan you don’t have to have it installed to keep the tire size, tpms or anything else. Only issue with JScan is their ESS disable basically sets the hood switch to open and your remote start won’t work. Hope that helps.

Put a level on top of the tire, then measure the distance to the ground.

Good info, but I'm not a fan of having to leave a piece of hardware plugged into my Jeep to keep certain changed things working as I want.

What is GDE?

Green Diesel Engineering. They offer a tune on EcoDiesels.
