Like the other poster, I had to find a reputable powder coat shop to finish the Cavfab carrier that replaced the Alpha. And boy did I find a great company that does amazing work.

According to what the shop told me about properly prepping parts, powder coat does not like sharp corners. They don't need to be fully rounded off, just dulled with a flap wheel. Teraflex didn't do that with my carrier, but the shop didn't skimp on that prep time. 2 years later, and the Cavfab still looks fresh out of the oven.

Cavfab looks great and I don't think I've heard a single bad thing about them. How much was the cost for the carrier and bumper if you recall?

It's been a couple years, but just checked their site and the pricing looks familiar.

Link to the Elite carrier...

Link to the Ultra High Clearance rear bumper...

Powder coat pricing varies with location, but I paid $740. That was to have both parts finished in the same lightly textured black as the mopar steel front bumper, the name plates done in the same gloss red as the front bumper hooks, and 4 steel shackles in the same red with rattle silencers.

I like the UCF version.....tucks up close to the tailgate. I run a modified version for my 8x6.5-40" tire/wheel combo. ............... I also, have the 1/4" 6061-T651 aluminum inner /outer tailgate door and steel hinge reinforcement brackets installed.

photo is stock version.

On the inner tailgate reinforcement, it looks like the tire carrier bracket bolts straight through to the inner bracket... is this correct? Do the stock tailgate holes need to be drilled out or is the bolt just threaded through? Same question on the hinges.

Also is this only compatible with their hinges?

I'm considering this for my realatively stock appearing Jeep, and like that it's hidden.

I went with the Teraflex because my wheel and tire combo is very heavy and I knew I would be adding a tailgate table at some point. Additionally, I plan on adding a spare tire mounted cargo system from AAL for fuel, traction boards, etc. I knew that much weight needed a heavy duty setup and the Teraflex is BEEF. Tailgate closes rock solid compared to the same tire/wheel setup with the MOPAR reinforcement.
