How does this make sense?
So the entire tailgate is to be under 85lbs?
At this point I’m running a 35” Duratrac in stock Sport S upgrade (graphite) wheel.
Had to put on the RC relo bracket to clear the tire- just those two items alone have got to be 100+ lbs.
and the Mopar kit won’t do a thing. Guess I need to look for new bumper/tire carrier combo quick!
The tailgate doesn't need to be included in the 85 pounds, it's anything added to the tailgate....spare, carrier, etc.

So, Sport S upgraded wheel is around 23# plus 315/70r17 Duratrac is 60#.
That darn RC Relo bracket has to be 20#.
So, already at 103#?

Can’t believe they would keep it so low at 85.

it's actually a lot higher than the JK if I remember correctly.

I ordered one today. Found a pretty decent price on eBay. May be a waste of money but the extra protection can’t hurt and I actually like the look of it. My spare weights 94 pounds plus I added a relocation bracket so my bike rack would work correctly.

It attaches to the bumper. No new/extra holes are drilled in either. The bolts are the LED bolts, so it is legal when it comes to lighting up the plate.
Did you install it yourself? Wondering if you encountered any difficulty relocating backup sensors or wiring the lights. I can bend a wrench but anything involving electrical and electronics is typically out of my comfort zone.

I read the manual to state what it states. The tire carrier has a weight limit of 85lbs. This is not the tailgate. If so the they could not sell the mopar table and its weight capacity. The oem rubi spare setup has to weigh close to 80lbs by itself.

Rugged Ridge has come out with a bracket like Mopar. Anyone know if it is the same concept or like the Teraflex on a JK?
It is not the same as the mopar. It is a full hinge replacement like the EVO. It also has adjustable tire mounting positions including tilt and closer to the tailgate than OEM. Its a great option and is rated to carry a 40" tire/wheel combo.

Hey guys I just put my spare setup on - Milestar 37’s w/ Method MR312’s, which seems to be on the lighter side. I used a relocation bracket but no reinforcement (yet). I did add extended isolators. I agree that these reinforcement brackets don’t seem to do much. I’m curious if you think this is fine on the stock tailgate or if I need to somehow reinforce or upgrade to something like the EVO carrier? Everything seems fine so far - no flex, opens and closes easily, no vibration.

With a heavy ass Mopar beadlock and 35” Nitto Ridge Grappler weighing in at a 116 lbs my tailgate would drop a lot when I opened it. This was with the Mopar relocation/reinforcement waste of money kit. I since installed the Evo tire carrier and could not be happier. This thing is solid as a rock and looks great!!! I used the TeraFlex camera kit from their Alpha carrier because Evo’s solution is garbage and looks like a complete afterthought. I can’t imagine yours holding up very long the way it is, especially given that the tire now sits higher up and further out. The Evo carrier holds the tire really close to the body unlike most of these relocation kits. Evo Is not the only game in town though, Motobilt makes an awesome carrier, DV8, Rusty’s etc... Teraflex should be releasing theirs fairly soon as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

I think they finally sorted out the finish because I’ve had ZEREO rust, not even a little and I live in the salt belt of New Hampshire. I’m by no means bias to Evo, as matter of fact I don’t like this carrier for a few different reason, but rust isn’t one of them.

What do you dislike about the EVO?

Their third brake like solution was an afterthought and an absolute joke, In order to change the tire you literally have to remove that little camera from the housing. I’m sorry but on the side of the road or trail I’m not caring a little T6 with me to remove a very fragile little HD camera in order to change a heavy ass spare tire. My other issue is the spacer plates that ride between the tailgate in the hinges are not thick enough and the quality of the fit and finish is abysmal for that price point. Also it’s just a very difficult carrier to line up and you almost have to concede certain things just to get it to work properly. But I don’t think it’s necessarily just an Evo problem, I think all of these types of carriers have the same types of issues, although other companies pay more attention to detail and have a better solution for the third brake light and camera. Just my opinion of course.

I agree with everything here in regards to the EVO setup. Mine also had the rusting issue.

I don't believe the Rusty's one requires any real compromise, at least not for me. Everything lined up great. The camera and third brake like are provided for, and do not require removal to get the spare off. The camera mount is still in the center of the wheel, and is stout. Strong enough to set the tire/wheel on, then put it in place, which is GREAT. The powder coat on it is phenomenal. I just got rid of my 2018, and got a 2020 JLUR. I will be using Rusty's again.
