Just installed the single TACCOM clips on my visors as a preventative measure, and it reminded me of another odd issue I'm experiencing with the visor design.

Although the two screws holding the visor into the rectangular-ish plastic base (photo below) are tight, the whole thing is wobbly and loose. Frankly, I was never that concerned about the visor breaking off, because the base is so much looser and flimsy. Same goes for the clip that holds the other end of the visor in place. I thought about removing both assemblies to figure out what's going on, but then I thought it might just make things worse. Before I decide to do any exploratory surgery, does anyone else have this issue too? Is it easily repairable or is this just another damn "Jeep Thing" we have to live with? Appreciate any recommendations and happy Jeepin' all!

I have the same problem after the dealer replaced both visors. I don't want to take it back to the dealer because every time I do, they screw something else up. Did you find a solution? My visors are so wobbly, I can't use them at all. I have to squint if it's sunny. Very disappointing, and Jeep is no help at all.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any resolution to this issue. The visor bases are still wobbly but haven't gotten any worse. This is probably because I rarely use the visors, and when I do, I lower and lift them very carefully. Although this is a minor inconvenience by itself, it's pretty frustrating when added to all the other "Jeep things" we are forced to accept. Hope you find a solution and please keep us posted if/when you do. Happy Jeepin'!

those things off amazon hold the visor ok, but the edge cuts into the visor, chews it up as you use it. RIP. Should've done @roaniecowpony's og fix

I do see the half style ones, maybe it would still hold, not sure.

I made the above post almost exactly three years ago. I got to use the spare collar today.

The driver side fell on my today on my way to work, so I fixed it after I got home. Only took a few minutes with the Dremel. I’m honestly surprised it made it almost 5 years, considering the passenger side broke after a year. FWIW, that one is still holding up perfectly after 4+ years now.
No need to go that route any more as $7.50 will get you a permanent fix for both visors:

I was about to try the filing down and making new collar fix by @roaniecowpony detailed. are you saying that these brackets will fix the issue? ( like the others, my plastic arm physically broke above the original collar).

Yes, they will hold a broken arm in place providing the bulge in the arm isn't damaged.
I fixed the drivers side years before useing the push nut method, but when the passenger side went, I ordered these. It'sa quick, effective fix and it's been perfect for over a year now. Make sure to get the two screw version as it is much more secure. Honestly, Jeep should install these at the factory ending the visor issue once and for all.

2021 JLUR. 48,000 miles. Many overland/off road miles. Drivers side visor broke exactly as described traversing gravel road in NM. Just broke and dropped down hanging by the electric wires that support the garage door opener etc. I was able to push it back into place where it "usually" remained if I did not use it. Read this thread. Saw that the originator of the fix endorsed the TACCOM solution, I ordered it for $10. Free shipping. Received it in two days. So simple to install there were no instruction. T25 torx to remove original screws and phillips head for longer replacement screws. 15 min to install. Done.

Thanks to @roaniecowpony for taking the time to develop and post his solution then endorse a simpler effective fix.

I have seen this tacoma version and the hook version. does yours have trouble rubbing and wearing the visor? ( I bought both options , and the parts to do @roaniecowpony 's version - both my visors are broken, driver side dangles in my face at all times and Is currently tied up with trick line)
just wondering if I should go 2 hole version as you did, or hook version? considering the wear and tear mentioned on page 30?

k but terrible. I ordered both versions so I'll see how they fit. the 2 screw does appear more sturdy, even if it rubs a bit

Almost 5 years since I fixed my visors with the retainer in the original post #1 of this thread. They're still hanging in there. I use them off road with them unclipped and moved to the side too.

Had my passenger visor fail yesterday. Been using a lot more over the last couple years since using sun visor in window now. I'll be doing the original DIY option as it seems very robust. I also ordered the Tacoma double screw version as well. Get both I guess, I'll decide after I go thru the DIY if I want to also add the Tacoma. LOL

@mygreenkaw

Suggest you just go with .... The Original TACCOM double offering..

If your visor was not broken I would say go with the single Taccom offering.

No need to also do the DIY repair..
