How well does this fix work when using the visors unclipped and extended on side windows? My visor broke yesterday while driving on freeway unclipped and extended. Hit the side of my head, an Oh crap moment at 80 mph.

Good question, not really sure I want to "stress test" mine. I haven't used mine moved over but have only been on one road trip without fail. After reading about the issue, the whole time I was waiting for my EBay order when my wife was using the visor/mirror, I was cringing every single time she pulled it down. #jeeplife

I'm sure it has been tested by members by now. I am now past 2 years on my original metal retainer fix and it can be extended down the side by the window without worry.

No issue at all. These allow full range like OEM.

That speed limit on I-15 was a great move IMO.

I-80 in this case, If only the road was designed for it. The temperature extremes and heavy truck traffic divots with bonus crosswinds. Makes one appreciate the stable JL steering ?. Fortunately the yard sales are infrequent compared to I-15 except during wind events.

why isn't this a safety recall? Parts are clearly defective and could easily cause an accident. Who from Jeep can take this up and resolve it? I now have 38k miles and 2 visors falling out of the bracket because of a cheap piece of plastic that isn't designed to do the job properly. Doesn't seem like a fix I should have to pay for.

Yep, one would think they'd have addressed this by now. Just a sorry example of desktop engineering. It's been 4+yrs of this POS design, guess it's just become another "Jeep thing" :(

The dealer just replaced my passenger side visor 2 weeks ago and it failed two days after. This is insane.

In December 2021 I got the 2 screw "overkill" version from TACCOM3G on fleabay. Fast shipping, easy installation, just follow the directions. So far it seems very secure, both with normal frontal use and with extended side usage. The price includes two, one for each visor. Yes, Jeep should redesign their holder, but they haven't so this is insurance against breakage. My Jeep is out of warranty.

Is this fix compatible on 4xe models? According to the information on eBay for this product, it's not. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks!

@HushJeep

The sun visors on your 2021 4xe are no different then the sun visors, on other JL's or JT's.

With that said, this offering will be aok to install on your 4xe. (Not the first time eBAY or Amazon gave such bogus info)

By the way, were I you and my visor(s) were not broken yet.... I would asap, install this less expensive single screw, sun visor clip, versus the more expensive 2 screw visor clip offered by the same manufacturer...

IF your visor(s) is already broken go with the 2 screw offering..
