I didn't have the patience to read more than pages 1 and 2 and 9 (last one) but has anyone noted that Chrysler only became part of Stellantis exactly 3 years ago and the first few model years for the JL had nothing to do with Stellantis?
Stellantis is just continuing the shit show FCA started a decade prior.

Jeep sales peaked in 2018 and have been declining every year since. Jeep sold 973,200 units in 2018; it only sold 545,100 in 2023. That’s a 45% decline in six model years. Unless Stellantis makes drastic changes, this year Jeep will be half the size it was at its peak.

BTW, this sales decline started well before COVID, chip shortages, Bronco, higher gas prices, higher interest rates, and any of that.

I think some people also fall victim to the inherent bias of a product-centered, internet forum. More people come here either seeking help with problems or to vent about problems than come here to praise their Jeeps. This skews perceptions about quality and reliability.

That pretty much the whole auto industry. I’ve bought around 30 to 35 cars and all of these manufacturers suck. In my experience Ford is by far the worst. Fords are the biggest POS that I have ever seen.
I have owned ALL the brands over many years and most had MORE problems than my Jeep. Which is why at 78 years old I still will only buy a Jeep...Love my "Chameleon" 2-door,, NO problems whatsoever' I have had lately 1984, 1995, 2007,2008, 2014, 2020, and now 2023 and being a geologist put them all through the ringer and the only problem I have EVER had with any of them was breaking the front drive-shaft on my 2007 coming out of Canyonlands and it still managed to get me back to CO on just the rear driveshaft,, so once a Jeeper always a (lady) Jeeper... I have never felt unsafe in one,,. quite the opposite.....Rock on!

I’m actually somewhat forgiving of some of the issues that have plagued my 2020 Rubicon…like loose water pump bolts, a leaky fuel line, and some glitchy electronics. Those defects were mostlyremedied the next model year and addressed appropriately by my dealer.

The corrosion issue is different…and OP has the right to be concerned because of unreliable warranty service and potential loss of vehicle resale. What is exasperating is the issue became known in 2019 yet no apparent remedies were attempted until recently (zinc plate). Goodwill by Stellantis has also been spotty at best. I just found the corrosion on two of my hinges…which is not especially significant compared to many others. That said, sustainable fixes are hit or miss and dealer service is often challenging…and I’m not blaming the dealer either. Reimbursement rates for repaints must be very low or dealers would jump all over an opportunity to address corrosion damage.

My Jeep has had plenty of defects, however the potential of the corrosion issue is the one that gives me greatest pause. Toyota and Ford must be exceptionally pleased with how Stellantis has handled this issue. If the goal is to decrease market share, it’s working!

Yeah it's not the whole auto industry. GM and Toyota are not having these issues. And my experience with Ford is not bad...though my last Ford was a 2015 so it's certainly possible things have gotten worse - I know the Ford dealers around here are MUCH better than the CDJR dealers...that's still true. I will also add that the Bronco that my wife and I test drove was embarrassingly cheap feeling. I've said since we got our Wrangler that it's one of the cheapest feeling vehicles i've ever owned but that Bronco was much worse.

I currently own a 2018 Ford Edge Sport with 58,000 miles. It’s one of the best cars I’ve owned. Aside from needing new front brakes and rear shocks, the only unexpected repair was to replace an emissions control valve which cost me $55. I know Ford can have a bad reputation and perhaps the Bronco is a POS, but that has not been my experience with the Edge. My 2020 Jeep has been far worse.

My 2015 F150 has been nearly stellar. The 2020 Navigator my wife had was a great example of poor quality control and dealer apathy due to how Ford treats them on warranty issues. In just a few short years Ford lost a great deal of the advances gained under Mulally.

The 10 speed auto co-developed with GM has been a source of constant trouble. The Navigator needed a rebuild at 42k miles. There was no way were were going to keep that beyond the warranty period, so it got replaced with a Wagoneer.

Everyone gets so wrapped up in sales figures. I'd rather see production slow down 20% and see a sharp increase in quality control, no matter who makes the vehicle. I don't care about sales figures, or who's number one. All I want is a well built vehicle at a fair price.

You would think the OEMs want better quality too. It costs them less to spend a little more building it than it does to keep constantly repairing them after the sale. Not to mention the cost to the reputation of the brand. But, in all reality, the only thing that matters are sales. And if doesn't affect sales, there is nothing that really needs fixing. However, as things stand right now, affected sales can be blamed on many factors, so why blame QC.

There is no strive for improvement in recent years. Good enough is all that seem to matter anymore. Even many American made items have the look and feel of cheap imported items from a generation ago. Also, many "Made in the USA" products are simply assembled here using foreign, often Chinese parts. Don't look at the labels when you disassemble any parts of your Wrangler, I have, many of the dash components in mine were made in China.

Studies have found that two door Jeep owners are less concerned about corrosion of hinges by 50% compared to owners of four door Jeeps. ?

Jeep seems unable, or unwilling, to comprehend that the more they jack up prices, the higher the expectations they set for the brand.

When FCA set Jeep out to attract a more affluent type of buyer, it failed to account for the fact that more affluent buyers have more choices and higher expectations.

Bubbling paint, dead batteries or wobbly steering might not be an issue for traditional Jeep owners, but they are to those affluent customers set out to attract. Plus Jeep's incompetent dealers can make any minor issue turn into an unfolding nightmare.
Can’t argue that for the most part, but I still don’t feel sorry for the mall crawlers that bought one for show.

if it uses oil or has nuts, it's going to give you problems....

@Jeepalady17 Daaaamn, I'm fairly certain you just got the second highest compliment from @Flip

RED lettering, 26 font size, a phrase matching GIF, and a second GIF too boot! ? :involve:?

I don't remember exactly what his highest level of honor is, but I know for sure the things I listed above are high on the list. I believe the only thing higher than "WITNESS" in the world of Mad Max Fury Road, would be "MEDIOCRE". For sure if you got an Immortician Joe gif, I would have to imagine that would be an even bigger compliment, and then possibly if he added a third V8 Cult GIF, I'm pretty sure it would be equal to God like status on your part, in @Flip s eyes. ??
