Zip ties worked great. Great solution and took just a couple minutes to drill 4 holes, zip and clip.

Glad my pix can help. FYI the inspiration for this mod is that the Bestop TrekTop glide has a retainer system for the side windows that uses a short mesh strap with a snap on the tailgate retainer.

Hope it never comes to it, but I did the zip tie mod this weekend. Bought an extra pack of ties and a diagonal cutter to leave in the back. Thanks for idea!

Haven’t lost one since I made this mod over two years ago.

I did the same this morning. Works much better than my previous method.

Heard the dreaded “thwop” yesterday on the thruway two or three times. No zip ties would have meant retrieving them off the side of the road again.

I just had this happen on my 2023 Willys- only 2 mo old- passenger side soft top window popped loose, flapped for a few seconds as I tried to pull over and blew off. Was on an interstate driving about 75 mph, luckily no cars behind me, no big trucks passing me either. Had all windows up, top on, and all soft top windows in. I have struggled with that side window since I got it- very hard to slide it in the track. When it flew off, it broke the white plastic piece off from the top that helps to guide it in place. It is in service now; service dept says trying to get it covered under warranty. The window pane was not damaged when it hit the road.
This exact same thing just happened to me yesterday. Did you get it covered? Is the top still usable without the plastic piece if I just replace the window? Unfortunately my window was completely destroyed as the freeway was packed when it happened.

Since my Jeep was only 4 months old and the top was only on for three weeks, it was covered under warranty. Pretty sure that the plastic piece is not available separately. If you get windows from bestop or mastercraft (Q-tec house brand) they intend for you to reuse that plastic piece. IMO they never should have stopped using zippers on the side window. Check my posts in this topic for my solution. I zip tie the windows to the tailgate bar every time I put the top up.

My dealership told me there is nothing they can do about it since they did not install it and I didn't have the panel. I have been able to get the panel back since then (picked it up later last night once safer to do so).
