I have about 4 or 5 of them and have done some reviews on them and the HEST memory foam is by far the best. Big, but comfy and warm in the winter.

The Nemo Roamer is solid as well, a little cheaper and takes up less room.

If you sign up for backcountry.com's email list you can get 15% off as well and I think they have them.
Hest seems to get an awful lot of good reviews. Some will say it is pricey...but there's a reason it gets great reviews.

LLBean has some great stuff, but even better is their return policy. If you don't like it today, tomorrow or next year or the year after, just call them up and they will refund your $.

LLB refunded my money on a shirt I had bought 10 years before and I mentioned it to the sales person on the fone, they looked up my data and asked if I wanted a credit, or send me a check...
Wow...never crossed my mind to check out LL Bean...good find.

I've had really good experiences with my Klymit V, though it's a little narrow, and I roll off sometimes, so a double might run a bit narrow for 2 people, but double check the measurements.

I'll note that from what I've experienced and read online, Klymit tends to game their R ratings, so even the insulated pads aren't going to protect you from cold as much as you'd hope. You mentioned you don't plan on doing much cold camping so you should be fine, but I hate laying on cold spots so I picked up an insulated Nemo pad that's a little wider and much better insulated for my cold camping.

Edit: I should have read the rest of the thread before responding lol, I see now that you already have a Double V. Disregard everything haha...
Ha...no worries! You are right about the Klymit V Double being a bit narrow for 2. Nice and roomy for 1 though. The specs on this Klymaloft show it to be wider than the Double V...so...it might work. I also have to stay within the footprint of my Tentrax which is 52 wide.

Been using the Exped Megamat Duo 10 for the last year or so and really like it. Plenty of room for me and my girl, comfortable and quite warm (in almost all conditions you lose more heat to the ground than to the air, so a sleeping pad is more important than a sleeping bag / quilt for staying warm) down to freezing at least. Not much air needed to top it off if you let it inflate by itself for a couple of hours.

Only downside is that it's a big boy, takes up a good amount of cargo space and can take a bit of work to get it rolled back up.
You bring up a great point about pack size... definitely another factor to consider. I'm in a two door and while the Tentrax provides additional storage space, you still have to be careful about sizes of all the gear.

For sure. Every cubic inch is precious. For reference, here it is strapped to my AAL shelf (green bag at top right). It just barely fits into the opening between the shelf lip and the hatch opening. In terms of depth, there’s a 4 person tent on the shelf behind it.

I've read that Exped recommends storing the pad open and not in the stuff sack. Is that what you do? Seems that is a common recommendation for the pads that have the foam infrastructure so it isn't damaged or compromised by being tightly bound for long periods.

4” foam mattress. I’ve used most of the inflatables and nothing beats foam. You can roll it up pretty tight if you work at it.
Does foam provide any insulation (R value) for cold weather?

They do recommend storing them open with both valves open. Which means you got to make sure the animals can't get to it. Under a bed, behind a couch, standing in a closet, those are the spots I use.

I realize that is recommended practice, and I used to do that religiously with my Exped down pads, but I currently don't with this pad. I just don't have the space unless I finagle some room under the guest bed.

There's also a reasonable argument to be made that repeated cycles of compressing and decompressing are worse for the foam than storing compressed. Be interesting to see some careful empirical tests of this.

Additionally, with these open-cell foam pads, since the foam is glued to both the upper and lower face, the "loft" is entirely provided by the air pressure, not the resilience of the foam. If the foam becomes less springy, the only downside will be that the "self-inflating" part of the inflation process doesn't do as much.

We use two Exped MegaMats when we're tent camping, leaving space in the middle for our pup. Would purchase again.

Does anyone know of a queen size sleeping 4” pads? I can’t find any! 2 adults + clingie kid
A memory foam mattress topper may work. But it’s going to take up the whole inside of your Jeep. I have seen anything inflatable in that size, at least not with an ok R-value.

I camp in a 2dr JLR and I am all about miniaturization but the Exped Megapad is worth the space. The comfort and thermal insulation is very much worth the volume it consumes.

Go smaller with camp chairs and tables and stoves. You lay on the mattress all night. No brainer for my 60 year old body.
