I’m up in VA right now visiting family so I think I may give Peters Mill Run a go next Monday before heading back to LA.
If you really want to have fun and test your skid plate clearance, Run Potts Mountain Jeep Trail instead. I know Petes Mill is a BOH trail, but I ran the whole trail in a VW Taos. Potts Mountain is way more challenging and fun.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll do some research and see if I can fit it in as well. Thanks again

Just did dicky bell 3 weeks ago, did not do front side of Daniel, it was too crowded.
Will be back in 2 weeks, plan to knock out front side of Daniel before crowds get there.
Skids not really needed, sliders that stick out is 100%.
Plan full metalcloak for lowrider, and will pickup some asphifer for wife. She is alot taller than me, mine is more like a fat tractor.

Aluminum for me. Artec. I don't use the bottom of my jeep for a battering ram.

Thanks for the recommendation and I did even think about doing color matching. Now you’ve giving me something else to think about.
My wife thought I was silly but I like ‘em.

damn I miss Uwharrie. I do not how ever miss the possum that stole my lunch! Does Troy still have that tiny ass 1980s Walmart or did they ever upgrade 😂
I don’t know that I ever went into Troy. Drove in from Concord and just usually even skipped the outpost and just hit the trails.

last time I was out there (about 14 years ago) really didn’t need sliders. Just a good set of diff covers.

you laugh….. but no shit it happened! Was at the camp site in the night I heard movement and pop my head out of the tent and the bastard was trying to get in my food box. Scared him off. Work up the next day to take a morning ride. Came back at lunch time to eat and the SOB ate through the box and got most my food!

Our 1st time was 2000, and then twice a year with Isuzu's, plus I did the race on rocky mount loop, I missed the last two years, the place is not recognizable after Helene came through. It is amazing, this is a hard line on Daniel now.

no different than if you had a 150lb passenger vs just driving solo....ie no difference in the real world.. my Asfir skids are much lighter and just nice peace of mind..
I'd argue the passenger would make a larger difference as the skids are well below the cog and therefore actually lower it (slight as it's not a huge weight). I'd also argue they really help aerodynamics under the Jeep which a passenger doesn't. Definitely looks a lot smoother than stock.

I really like Metal cloak also but felt that the stock steel gas tank skid plate is really good and did not see a need to replace it. The metal cloaks all tie together for strength. I went with M.O.R.E. off road skid plates in steel, they also make them in aluminum. Made here in the USA in COlorado. I have them on my 2 door and my son has them on his 4 door JL. They have held up well and installation was no problem as everything lined up perfectly. I used AEV for front and rear dif skids and Metal cloak for shock skids and other assorted protection. You can look up my build thread as it will have all the pictures.
