About a year back my wife and I (50 years and counting) saved and bought a 2019 Sahara Unlimited as a retirement gift. (Probably more than we should have spent ...but life's too short). 4 days ago I went to start it up in the garage and the battery was dead..no big deal I went and purchased a new one and put it in. After doing so however the vehicle started great but would not shift out of park (completely frozen) (Shift lights unlit as well) (Dash full of error codes)
I had it towed to the dealership that night and when speaking to them the next morning was told they had no idea what the problem was as they were unable to communicate with the vehicle during diagnostics. Is this something that is common or should I be concerned that they are searching for the cause in the dark. Really liked the vehicle but am beginning to think perhaps it was a bit too much for people our age.

If yours is a non etorque engine you probably have the auxiliary battery that also may need to be replaced.

Thanks. When talking to the service manager last night that was one of the places he stated they were going to look into. (Haven't talked with them today...there's a difference between a squeaky wheel getting greased and a pain in the rear). I have read about this in other forums where even after repair it seems to be recurring. Starting to think that at mine and my wife's age it would be more prudent to have it fixed and the move on from it.

If you're not using it and not enjoying it for what it is then sure, replace it with something more practical.

Note that if you have an aux battery and one of the two batteries dies then you have to replace both. They die like Romeo and Juliet.

Stunning that the dealer was clueless as to the issue...

My 18 with 137k miles did the exact same thing yesterday in Kroger parking lot . Codes lights and no shift from park etc. Pulled fuse #42 and I do carry a code scanner so cleared codes in generic and vehicle specific section she fired right up. It was in the middle of our 8 inches of rain in 72hrs so was a bit aggravated at the timing, but happy to have learned from others on this forum and be self sufficient. Next stop Genesis battery setup :like:

It's just a battery. Have them replace it and go home.

I'm starting to wonder why they don't put some kind of header on this forums main page at this point. Like the Craigslist scam warning, they should put in bold Attention: delete aux battery before posting

But then we would have about 500 less threads on the forum?

It is most likely both batteries need replacing. No need to get rid of a great Jeep unless it’s your only transportation. They have there quarks. But unless you’re having other problems. They r great vehicles. This is coming from a 65 yr old
