Hey everyone! I bought a 2023 Wrangler Sport S 3 weeks ago brand new. In the past 3 weeks the gear shifter has locked in park twice. Took it back to the dealership the first time and they kept it for 4 days. Said they believe they fixed it. 5 days after, it just did it again last night stranding me for an hour at 10:30 at night. On a Saturday night nonetheless so I will be showing up as they u lock the doors to service tomorrow morning for its second trip in for the same issue. This is ridiculous. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it so I can help lead the dealership in the right direction? Im ready to say keep it and give me a different one!

Not at all. Stays stuck in park. Just dropped it off at Jeep for the 2nd time in 3 weeks for the same thing. Signed the contract for this on May 3 and its only May 15.

Actually just heard from the dealership! It was a short in the wiring in the harness between the gearshift and the transmission. They are replacing the entire harness since it was a manufacturer defect and its got less than 1,000 miles and only bought it 3 weeks ago. Hopefully I have it back tomorrow!

Pour quality of work thats the problem. And of course nobody knows what the issue is and when you go to the dealership, your Jeep is the only Jeep this happened to, than they want to blame it on my lift kit my grill being changed a new rear bumper. You know anything that’s not factory that Hass to be the reason why all these electrical stops happy with my jeep nobody wants responsibility to fix the problem that’s caused by the company that built and sold us the car, and it’s always something besides Jeep if you put a new friggin duck in your window and they say it’s not covered because it not a factory Duck and it voids the warrantees. Always an excuse for this Goddamn Chrysler company.

They actually replaced the vehicle for me because it was brand new.

Wife and I have run into the same problem. After 50 years of marriage we saved and bought a 2019 Sahara Unlimited last year. Probably more than we could afford, but after 50 years we deserved it. In addition to the shift stuck in park (with no shifter lights lit) the dealer is telling us they are at a loss because when they run the diagnostics it is not communicating. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? We have the full warranty purchased so the repair cost aren't an issue; it's just the idea that the dealership keeps stating they really have no idea as to the cause. (Oh had to change the battery as well because the vehicle wouldn't start....but it did shift prior to the change)

2020 Rubicon
I'm having the same issues. I have a 2020 Rubicon. It’s been at the dealership service department for over a month. The first “diagnostic” associated with the “crank and no shift” was a bad fuel relay and battery with a bad cell the cost to repair was 1200. I only agreed to the relay replacement because I checked the battery before taking the Jeep in and the cost to replace the battery was 795. I decided if I truly needed a battery I’d just buy one for 300 and install it myself.

When I went to pick up the jeep it had the same issue. Jeep started, lighting up the dashboard like a Christmas tree, but won’t shift out of park. Needless to say, the bad battery theory was debunked. Another two weeks go by before I hear from the dealership with a new diagnosis-

1. The fuel pump has to be replaced. The replacement is covered with a 100 copay under my extended warranty. This too was not the problem.

2. Now they are replacing the ABS module, (as per my service advisor the parts are in backorder for the next month. So now I’m in a holding pattern. This seems to be an issue with Jeeps in general. I had a similar issue with Liberty.
