Just gotta crawl on the ground and look for damage.Heads up to you lurkers out there... If after reading these accounts you still buy a used Jeep, you deserve whatever misfortune comes your way.
Or just buy ones with angry grills, a line of ducks on the dash, 20" wheels and the hand wave sticker on the mirror those usually just end up at the malls.Just gotta crawl on the ground and look for damage.

I was recently lamenting my first repair on my 2022 JLU Sahara (new driver in household, new right fender), and I started thinking about the Jeep owners who actually take their Jeeps off road (there have to be some who still do this, right?). I have to assume that this results in some self-inflicted damage, but is that correct? How often do the off-road crowd damage their own rides just having fun?
Is Jeep a swear word where you come from??let's just say it usually isn't hard to tell the Rock Crawlers from the Mall Princesses.
i hate damaging anything irresponsibly, but bought/built my Jeep to go places and do things. that said, i like them to stay looking nice, and working well. so far, so good!
Desert Pinstriping is a given in my experience, but that's a big reason why my current Jeep is not a dark color, and why i didn't want painted flares.
i also knew i was going to drag it going over stuff, so that's why it quickly got a full belly pan, rock sliders, etc. those are expected and acceptable points of (gentle, hopefully!) contact.
so far, no damage to the wheels themselves on this one (only to the beadlock rings, which is expected), but looking at the old Jeep, it's just a matter of time.
it's all part of the game. but admittedly, people buy Jeeps for different reasons, and have different games; that's part of the beauty of Jeeps.
I've asked a couple times to no avail. Lol.Is Jeep a swear word where you come from??
You should edit his quote so they all say Jeep instead of J**p and see what happens. Is Jeep a swear word where you come from??

x2, here's my DIY setupIf you hit that exhaust loop hard enough it is going to ruin your day ...
Put a skid on that thing and bonus points for tying it back into your engine/trans skid, like so:
(Note: Picture is on my JK, but it is the same general arrangement. I added the parts outlined in orange. It has held up very well.)
