I have a 24 Wrangler Rubicon 4 dr with extreme recon. The back of the Jeep is sagging 2 - 21/2 inches due to my overlanding setup. Any recommendations for Springs in the back to level out the Jeep? Also would I need to add anything else e.g. Bump stops…. I simply want to return it to stock height.

I have the same jeep and I’ll be installing Clayton 1.5” springs in the next couple of days. I don’t have as much weight in the rear, but I’ll let you know how it goes.

I had the same issue, ended up installing rock krawler 4.5” springs and 1” spacers from terraflex to level my rig out.

I have a 21 willys sport. I had the same issue but not until around 50K and after I had installed new shocks.

Point, I went with 1.5" Clayton ride right lift and it fixed it right up. Another up side to Clayton is the ride improved, plus when I add weight in the back of the jeep the ride gets even better.

Thanks, I am hoping to just get away with just replacing the springs with something that can carry the heavier load in the back.

Old Man Emu Heavy Load Springs. They are made for carrying heavy overlanding loads and does it very well. Most lift manufacturers don't consider heavy cargo weight but that's what OME is all about.

You might be able to get away with just springs but I'd definitely double check. The OME 2" Heavy Load springs are 2" above Sport height, 1" above Rubicon height and maybe even with Rubicon Xtreme Recon? (As I said, double check).

Thanks, I was looking at Clayton and Old Man Emu. I ordered the Old Man Emu 3138 (heavy load) rear coil spring set just an hour ago :) I know the rubicon extreme recon sits basically a 1.5 inches over Rubicon based on what I have read on forum. According to ARB website for the whole lift kit which has a lot more: "the kit will net 3.5 in for non Rubicon models and 2.5 in for Rubicon models". I just ordered the rear springs from this kit (3138) so we'll see how it works out!

Previously I tried airbags (didn't help much) and right now I have a 3/4" daystar spacer which did raise it 1 inch in the back. But I am assuming the coil springs are a better solution since the airbags prevent the suspension to move up and down stops the springs from doing what they are suppose to do which may result in additional stress on other components, and the spacer still leaves the springs compressed more than they should hoping these heavy load springs compensate somewhat... I'll do some measurements before and after and will report back in case it's helpful to anyone else.

Good call. Going with OME took me from big cargo problems (poor ride, sag, bottoming out) to cargo being a non-issue and greatly improved the ride.

The only downside to it is that I wouldn't recommend off-roading with it without your cargo weight. It will need the weight of your overlanding gear to really shine. However it's very nice on-road with or without the cargo weight.

Does anyone know the stock suspension heights in the front or back, I have 24 Rubicon X with 35s which would be same as JL Rubicon with extreme recon package?

So I installed the OME springs in the rear and here are my measurements. Assuming the Jeep should be level or some both in front and back, looks like I am a little off on Passenger front tire 3/4" lower so may need to install a 3/4 inch space in front? The 3 other side all look about 42 inches.

why would you assume it's supposed to be "level"?

have you measured with a full load of passengers and/or freight? that's what really matters.

Don't forget about getting the shocks with the correct valving and travel length to complement the different spring rates and ride height change or you accomplish nothing insofar as having things right. The shocks have to be compliant with the springs.

I want to return the back to same level as factory and wher e it was before putting the rack and all the stuff I have on it now. Assuming the ride height is back to where it was out of factory would I still need to do that?

If you change the spring rate the shock valving should match that different rate.
