hahaha No not fort Myers, Sydney Australia. I didn't go ballistic but I did enough to ensure the issue was addressed to my satisfaction after a fair bit of research.

There were 3 parties that should be held accountable. Jeep the manufacturer who should have had this car treated before it left the factory, then Jeeps quality control at the dock where they are supposed to treat any cars missed along the way prior to them being loaded on the ship, then Jeep Australia who should have picked it up on arrival and had it treated b4 releasing to the dealer them the dealer who should have picked this up as part of the service pre-delivery inspection that they charge circa $1500 to do. However, all of these parties failed miserably in doing their so-called pre-delivery checks on a very expensive product prior to it being handed over to the end user/purchaser. As mentioned in an earlier thread the dealer and Jeep Australia took responsibility and had the problem addressed.

What do you mean by "treated"? In the US there are no treatments applied at factory or after. It's built, shipped and sold. I've had 3 JLs now, one new and 2 used and none of them had rust like this or treatments. I genuinely looks like it sat somewhere where ocean spray pummeled it for weeks if not months.

A member of the 911 group tried to organize a speed day at the Salt Flats until someone pointed out that their cars would then self-distruct from the salt accumulated in the nooks/crannies during the outing.

OP, perhaps sea air on your Jeep on the trip across the Pacific?

That's true, even salt 'fog' can destroy vehicles. I hunted down in south TX for years and lost contact with a guy who bought a brand new Chevy Z71 pickup back in 2007.. He lived in Brownsville, TX just a few miles off the shore. I saw him again at that lease in 2015 shortly before moving to CO and you wouldn't have believed the rust damage! The entire bed had holes in it like swiss cheese and the panels were falling off in just a decade. I didn't look under it but can imagine. He said it's just what they deal with.

I spray it directly from the can. I just make a small hole in a piece of cardboard to catch the overspray. You can get pretty precise with touching up areas w/o overspray that way. I’m sure they have it in a can as well but haven’t checked.
