Also remember to bang on your hood in the winter before starting yoir Jeep as cats like to get in the engines, on top of the tires, and in wheel wells when it's cold.
Starting an engine with a cat in it is an absolutely horrifying event 😪

I haven't had a problem until this past winter. I have several large oak trees and a lot of acorns, and both of my cars have to live outside. I raised the hood of one car in December and everything under the hood was covered in acorn shells. I opened the Jeep hood and it wasn't as bad but did have a lot of acorn sheels, mostly on top of the battery. I think my problem is squirrels, not other rodents. I sprinkled cayenne pepper on the battery cover and I think that helped, I've read that spreading peppermint oil under the hood works too but I haven't tried it.

This is a good reminder- I'm going to watch more carefully this winter.

Guys, real quick. Temperatures will be going down, protect your thingies. I use Repel All from Home Depot. I spread it around my front tires, and it works amazing. I've seen zero rodent activity in my engine bay and my Jeep is parked out in the open.

Jeep JUnkie,
did you use the granules? or something else? i just googled it. is it on the tires or pavement?
how long does one treatment last?

very interested had a critter chewing on the felt on my battery cover on my 24 with 5000 miles on it.

Mo, what if they’re hairless? Or bunnies? Also I don’t see anything on your tires. And I definitely need something since I live in the woods! When I worked at my buddy’s shop and folks had rodent problems he’d recommend Irish spring in the engine bay. Apparently it’s repulsive to mice and rats and they won’t go into the engine bay because the smell. I did notice the peanut shells slowly stopped showing up.

I bought some Repel All at Home Depot based on this thread to give it a try. Man does that stuff smell awful. Thankfully I sprayed it around the outside of my garage doors and not inside the garage.

:puke:

I use this, around tires on the pavement, and under front axle. Lasts for a month.

No, not on tires, just around tires, just a barrier between tire and rodent. Rodent is 🤧🤧🤧 before reaching the tire

I’ve had to have my parked outside jeep towed to the dealer twice for rodents chewing wiring, and the battery. I’ve tried mothballs, dryer sheets, but so far peppermint oil sprayed all over the engine compartment, and a light on every night under the front of the jeep seem to help. Light from harbor freight, on at dusk, off at dawn timer from a hardware store…🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

It says it's pet safe, then AI (which isn't always right) says if ingested by your dog it could cause toxicity and gastrointestinal issues. so not sure what to make of that. Since my dog eats poop whereever he finds it, not sure I can chance this or who is lying.

i tried looking into the AI data but not seeing the answer directly

I will stick with peppermint spray on the engine for now but wish i could use this stuff!

Buy the. Concentrate and spray the ground. There’s nothing to eat.
