Well, many (in fact the vast majority) people walk away from crashes in all vehicles.

Question? How many other vehicles that drove through that stretch of road that day, near that time rolled over?

We have to be realistic with Wrangler and safety.

The Wrangler is pretty much the only passenger vehicle sold in America today without curtain/side air bags. In side impacts and rollovers that is what keeps people from banging their heads/bodies inside the vehicle and being ejected (though seatbelts are key there). What you don't see in that picture, and you would see in any other rollover vehicles, are the deployed curtain/side airbags (which don't deflate).

The Wrangler is also much more prone to rollovers than most other vehicles.

Jeep has always said that the removable roof prevents them from having curtain/side airbags. Well, the Bronco came along with curtain airbags and removable roof. So that was a total lie and shows indifference from Jeep to occupant safety.

Anyway - glad the driver is OK and that no kids or anyone else was in the back seat.

Bottom line - be real - If your loved ones rive your Wrangler, remind them that it is less stable than most vehicles, more prone to roll over, and does not have good side/curtain airbags if they do roll over.
I am being real. Wrangler is not even in the top 10 in fatal crashes in the US. I prefer my loved ones in a Wrangler even with a roll over you are far more likely to be killed in an Ford Explorer or Honda Accord or even GMC Sierra. Wrangler is like 25th on the list.

I know the south doesn't have it, but salt works wonders on ice.
Up to a certain point.

Even salt looses its effectiveness after a certain temperature, which makes black ice even more sudden and 💀deadly. Some tribes do tend to use sand sparingly, instead of salt, once those temps dig into the sub negative teens.

Well they DO have side airbags that should keep the body in place and combined with a seatbelt should minimize the curtain bag need.
No side airbags in the rear, and looks like heads will smack the sharp edge of the hard top. Be real here.

A lifted Jeep Wrangler, with it's body on frame, with full skid plates(lowers C.G as well ;)) larger tires, a tow hitch, 5th larger tire on rear door, steel bumpers, and rock rails, being driven nice n slow, is a very safe place to be in, if some dork decides to smack into you, or should I say, under you 😆.

That being said, for a higher speed, longer trip though, for safety sake, I'll put my kids inside my Volvo SUV, over the Wrangler, or even in a Porsche SUV, any day of the week, it's a no-brainer.

The laws of Physics will work in your favour, depending on the circumstances. Pros and cons to each case scenario.

I THINK, if I recall correctly, that the Volvo XC90, had NEVER had an actual death event 💀occur inside of that vehicle, on the entire planet!

I remember reading this about 4 years ago....so DYOR, as with everything else ; ).

Yup, that applies to virtually all SUV's, which is why I NEVER buy them, I always lease them 😉.

As for my Wrangler toy, this I bought, payed for, done, and yes, the resale value on these is still top in my tribe as well.

I actually got four G notes back on my Volvo lease trade-in last year, which was a shocking surprise, the market was nuts! 😯

Yeah for sure good time to lease. Always thought they were sharp looking cars also.

I'm not sure what data you looked at, but according to the IIHS latest available data (2020 report based on 2015-2018 accidents, covering model year 2014-2017), we see that:

Industry Average Rollover Driver Death Rate: 5
Jeep Wrangler 4-door Rollover Death Rate = 10
Jeep Wrangler 2-door Rollover Death Rate = 20

That means that if you drive a Wrangler 2-door you are 4 times more likely to die due to rollover crashes than a driver in an average vehicle.

If you drive the Wrangler 4-door, you are lucky. You are only twice as likely to die in rollover crashes.

That table looks sorted by total fatalities, which is mostly a function of the most popular vehicles. The last column is all over the place. Is the data available sorted by occupants killed per vehicle in a fatal crash?

I imagine it is how many occupants are in the vehicle at the time of crash that was fatal.

It would also be use of the vehicle at time of crash, speeding, unrestrained, DUI etc. Speeding is not always a Jeeps use.

Can google up the full report if you wish. It is not the most popular vehicles but number fatalities. It is not my table.

Jeep Dude probably has the best idea, want one of the safest cars in the world get a Volvo.

I'm sorry - don't want to prolong the debate, but I don't think you understand what this table shows - but it has nothing to do with how likely you are to die in those vehicles.

If you try to debate the risk of serious injury or death of the Wrangler (specially the 2-door) vs other vehicles, I can't help you.

Pretty much the only vehicle sold without curtain airbags, one of the shortest wheelbases, and the highest center of gravity - it is physics, and all you need to know.
