I use this ^^^^, but I enhance it with this https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Truth-Aromatherapy-Essential-Peppermint/dp/B00X47GZOG?th=1 (also available at our local CVS)
I add about 8 additional drops and give it a good shake before spraying. My rodent problem went away.
Bonus: my driveway area smells 'minty' ;)
So, I get the idea of using minty spray. But, where exactly on the Jeep are you spraying this? The engine bay from the top? Engine bay from the bottom? Undercoat the whole Jeep?

I read that WD40 works wonders for mice, rats and squirrels. I kept having a mouse build a nest between the battery and fuse box. I would remove it and the nest would return in less than 4 days. I sprayed the wires, firewall and all over the frame. So far no mouse has returned and it has been 2 weeks.

I had them building nests in my engine compartment. I was skeptical, but a few dryer sheets have kept them away.

I would try this and peppermint oil first.
pure peppermint oil. I would also get bait traps. around your property.
For squirrels....not sure if you can still buy this. I have eliminated most of the Squirrels that were on my property:

Thanks everyone, I will check out some of the recommendations.

So far the bastids seem to like my Jeep better than the RAM ....

Passenger side (ignore the hanging wires, a lot going on with wiring right now)

If you keep it in a garage, get a cat and leave the door to the garage open, keep litter box in the garage. IF a rodent tries to get in, it’ll get digested. But they will smell the threat and stay away.
Garage is where my sweetheart's Audi stays. Jeep in the garage - iant gonna happen. + I its a 4Xe, so might blow up anytime now

Probably too slippery for them to get a good purchase... :)

That's because he keeps sliding down the wire

all along the lower half of the firewall inside the engine compartment, along the fenders inside the engine compartment, behind battery and surrounding area, around perimeter of hood insulation panel, and fender wells where they meet the frame, front & rear.
Instead of that, my wife made small burlap pillows with absorbent foam inside and I add a few drops of pure peppermint oil to the pad. Mice and squirrels hate it. Been using this on my vehicles for about ten years and so far, it works without mess and lasts about 45-60 days.

I am need of some kind of spray to keep rodents away from my cars. Just noticed some arsehole have chewed the insulation under the hood. Before they chew on any of the harnesses I need a remedy. Can anyone recommend a tried and tested one? there are dozens on amazon, just not sure which works best.

I believe the culprits are squirrel but could be mice as well.
Glue traps.... 100% glue traps. May sound inhuman but so is the cost to have your wiring redone. If you use a glue trap then you know you got the culprit. My neighbor had wiring eaten to the tune of $1,500 in one night. Spent the money and had it replaced and tied all kinds of varmint sprays and sonic deterrents.... two days later... back to the shop with eaten wires again. Again, another $1,500. Week later he got it back and laid the glue traps. Got two squirrels and a large rat. He put them in a bucket of water to end their lives. He still places the glue traps out but hasn't had an issue since. Moral of the story... do unto them before the do unto you.

I have eliminated most of the Squirrels that were on my property:
My New Year’s resolution one year was to shoot every squirrel I saw in my yard. I killed 19 over a few months and realized that you can never get rid of them. They kept coming back like I was in some video game loop. And of the 19, 18 were gone the next day.

I was feeding some larger predator.

I am pretty sure that if I were to kill those predators, they would have been eaten by bigger ones and ultimately I would have been eaten.

I just now ordered some peppermint oil. Not sure what will come of it; might get mice making candy canes decorating the wires under the hood.
