Rattling upon acceleration

Has anyone taken their jeep to service with this issue? I scheduled an appointment for service electronic stability control light thats been on for the past week, and I'm thinking of bringing this up to them. Not too confident that they'll "hear it".

Mine is in finally for 10k maintenance and recall fix for cruise control. The rattling is also one of the issues I brought up so fingers crossed they do find something. I’ll be sure to update when I get my JL back.

Took mine in for the pinging and couldn’t get the dealership to admit they hear it. My dealership service department in Annapolis isn’t exactly what you’d call eager to please, so you’ll likely have a better experience at yours.

Switched to 93 for the past two tanks. Don’t hear it as much if at all.

Issue is I drove another owners Jeep who is running 87 all the time and they never have the sound.

Also my wife’s 2016 Honda Pilot on 87 gas is silent as well.

On a side note...I get a slight hesitation when the Jeep is cold and I go from reverse to park. Like if I don’t press the throttle the Jeep will die. It’s like the timing is off when cold or the spark plugs aren’t gapped right. Does anyone else get this? Maybe this a cause for the overall issue we’re having.

I use Costco gas by the way.

I just moved to this thread. I have been having this "spark knock" for quite some time, but never knew what it was. I likened the rattling sound that a diesel truck makes when it accelerates. Its a quick "rattle" or "knock" when I accelerate from a stop or after already in motion and have let off the gas and then depress the gas it often does it. The "knocking" occurs every time I drive, but not every time I depress the gas pedal. I just learned today that its probably "spark knock". My JLU Rubicon has 7,800 miles, but its been doing it since I got it in March. With the radio on, I don't notice it, with the windows up its more faint and its more pronounce with the windows down. @JeepCares

I wasn’t able to play your sound file, but I hear a rattle / gurgle / hiss (maybe?) through all gears just below 2000 rpm. Once I’m above 2k it goes away.. is this what you guys are hearing?

I have noticed the pinging for a second when loading the engine when upshifting when accelerating uphill. Between going to 93 octane gas and cooler temps, it seems to be gone. It really is unacceptable in a new vehicle.

Anyone get any answers from their dealer yet or have issue resolved. Mine seems to be getting worse, more pronounced , only notice it in 2nd or 3rd gear and have been using 91 octane last few tanks.

I called FCA back letting them know I didn't get a resolution from the dealer and that running 93 mitigated it. That was about a month ago and still haven't heard anything back from my case manager.

So, I took a video and if you have the volume up and/or wear headphones you can clearly hear the rattle/knocking or whatever it is. My JL has been doing this since the I got it, but didn't notice it for awhile, because I always had the radio on. You can hear right at the start of the video for a second, then at 12-16 seconds and then 28-42 seconds. It does it consistently, but I can sustain it around 30-34mph when it has settled into gear and gently press the gas (that is 28-42 seconds at about 34mph) If anyone that hears it can tell me if you JL does the same or if you know what the problem is that would be great. I am about to schedule a trip to the dealer. Thanks!

That sounds like mine but maybe worse. Do you have the window down? Does your noise seem to be coming from inside or under vehicle? My rattle is heard mostly with windows down from what seems like under vehicle. Hope your dealer is more helpful, rd tested with dealer and duplicated. but after one week at shop, they’re unable to diagnose and only adjusted heat shield that did not fix it, still heard it on way home from dealer, I’ll be taking it back soon when all other back order parts arrive.

The Video is with the windows up. You can hear it with them up or down. Sometimes it's hard to pinpoint, sometimes it seems to be coming from the engine, someones underneath and a little further back. It definitely doesn't sound normal! Please let me know if you find anything out and I will do the same.
