New 2025 Rubicon X. V6, automatic transmission. Love the Jeep so far. However yesterday, when coming to a slow stop at a yield sign at a traffic circle the engine surged and bucked as I applied the brakes. It sounded like one or more tires also skidded. I just missed the right-of-way vehicle entering the traffic circle. Pulled over and shut it off while I caught my breath. On restart no issues at all.
I considered that maybe I had had my foot partially on the accelerator and the brake. So I tried that on a side street and got the expected result of the brakes holding the vehicle as it torqued up.
Took it within an hour to the local Jeep dealer Service Department. The head service manager said he had never heard of the problem before and that the 2025s had been very reliable. He speculated about various causes but had no definitive answer.
Last night I got on the Internet and saw dozens of identical complaints from other Jeep owners over the years. A wide variety of "fixes" none of which (at least that I could see) actually fixed something. I have to think it is a software issue of some kind.
I filed with NHTSA because this is obviously a significant safety issue apparently for some years. If anyone has an actual fix, or has heard from Jeep home office it would be great to know. Thanks
