I think we can all agree that the current state of electric power generation and transmission infrastructure (often called “the grid”) is proving to be quite, to nearly woefully, inadequate.
Action is required now to get not only to the point of adequacy, but to continue improvements as part of the plan for future demand and reliability.
It should be obvious to many that removing those utilities from the public trust and privatizing a large amount of them has led to quarterly earnings reports being more important than the very business they are in, in the first place. They aren’t just selling widgets, reliable electric power is more than just your AC or lights, for more and more people it’s now a matter of life and death.
In short, the current state of the grid can’t reliably meet demand at all times, and barely has any safety margin at peak hours. Hard work has to be done to fix the issue now, and continue to develop for the future. Using EVs as storage banks is not the answer.
