Thanks! I do have the wider rock rails from Mopar. But of course I'm paranoid about my new baby.
Oops. I just expanded your avatar and saw them. Not everyone thinks of rock rails in that context. The only people you still need to worry about are ultra-lifted trucks and vehicles with weirdly shaped rear doors. For the most part, you're home free. I've parked where I've wanted for years, and so far, so good.

As OP, my original intention was a comentary on human nature; specifically selfishness. Unsurprisingly, it has evolved somewhat to EV bashing. For the record, I am all-in on hybrids (maybe even my next purchase), but I too, am sceptical about EVs. What I like about hybrids is the low end torque without fully jumping into the EV pool, the charge at home aspect, and the environmental help without really changing my lifestyle. They are ever-improving, and seem to be a win-win. I just hope that manufacturers don't direct all of their R&D dollars to full EV as hybrids seem like a better bet for the next decade+. Their major downside seems to be their complexity, but the hybrid technology usually comes with an eight year warranty.

You can now get a new top-of-the-line 2024 4xe Rubicon X for as little as $55K here in Phoenix. And...that is standard with virtually EVERY option. There are one-touch roof ones for $59K. That seems like a real bargain.

Total aside: What is with Porsche naming their top EV the Taycan Turbo? It used to be engineering ran that company, not marketing.

You’re probably right. Hence why this will never take off fully. I bought a diesel…
I have the same problem as a diesel owner though, go to a gas station with one or two pumps of Diesel, and those are the only ones occupied while the other dozen non Diesel pumps are unused.

I started writing up the EXACT same commentary yesterday, but abandoned it, thinking that hardly anyone would relate.

Because they always put them on the far corners, which makes sense. But people pull in there because there is no need to have good fender judgement and less there's of a worry about getting blocked in. If those pumps were diesel only it would hardly ever happen.

Same thing when people drive it the left lane, no need to worry about traffic on each side, they feel more comfortable there.

As for the EV only parking. Many times those are the only spaces available, or that are close. I'll never understand why people have a problem walking 50 or 100 extra steps in the parking lot when they are about to spend 2 hours, and thousands of steps wandering around in a big store, mall or hospital. I never park close unless there are few cars in the lot to begin with. Close parking is where most of the damage is done, as those who feel an need to have those spaces are usually old, lazy, or bad drivers to begin with. The last thing I want next to me is old old Suburban with an obese family trying to squeeze in and out. And they will never park 10 spaces farther out to make it easier on them and everyone else.

The EV parking being that close is usually just to do installation costs. Saves a few to several grand trenching electrical to the closest spots near a building versus the farthest. I agree though, I would prefer the further spots be electric, those of us who enjoy electric vehicles are also more likely to appreciate the few extra steps than the honey boo boo types that will circle a few times just to get three extra spaces closer to the building.

Actually the shameless marketing use of “Badges” has been common practice for decades. Look at some of the POS’s getting the Mustang, Bronco, Blazer, Daytona, SS, etc badges. The bastardization of the Cobra badge is the worst I can think of. See the upcoming “Daytona” or “Six Pack”.
Nearly every appliance with an electric motor has been marketed as “Turbo”
Jeep Wrangler JL Public charger "protocol" 09343320-A98C-4E7D-A951-7ADE60350382

But yeah- Porsche stooping to it I haven’t noticed before.

Edit- “Corvette” included from 1972– 1990. They looked right, but the most powerful 73 Big Block had less HP than a 57 283. It wasn’t until 1990 that the 327 power level was re-achieved ….

Preech. I’ve experienced that too. Seems the world could use a solid dose of courtesy

Also another problem with hiding the chargers, is people cannot find them, I still can't find the chargers at Toronto airport, where parking is $1 a minute plus paying for charging.

Then hiding the charging spots, will cause more vandalism, you know how some people go nuts when they pass anything EV.

Also chargers close to the entrance, usually means chargers further away from the exits, or doors.

Didn't read the whole thread and it has probably been mentioned, but I've also noticed this behavior now with curbside pickup. People parking in curbside pickup spots even though they aren't doing curbside, then leaving their car there while they shop. However, I'm also seeing stores move their curbside pickup to the far side of the building, which seems to prevent this.

3. Paid government chargers are usually all blocked by some angry gas car owner showing he is man by being an asshole

I think I am going to start keeping a valve-stem remover tool on me for just this reason. Find someone "ICEing" a charger, remove all of their valve stems. Immensely inconvenient but not destructive. Maybe even just put them in a bag taped to their windshield with a "Don't be such an inconsiderate asshole" card or something, but maybe if they're a special dick just throw them in the trash.

No company should be installing chargers for employee use, especially at those exorbitant prices.

If they really want they could install 120v, if that, people can charge enough to get them back home, and let them pay for the charging spots.

Realistically a 40 mile round trip can be charged overnight at home on a 120v, so there is no reason for workplace charging.
People don’t need business-provided chargers, but lots of businesses are providing them for free for valid business reasons.

1) Providing chargers is virtue-signaling. It’s supposed to tell the world the business is hip and concerned about the environment — that the business owners are willing to sacrifice profit to incentivize electric car use🙄, and

2) Free charging offers a benefit that is attractive to some employees and is tax deductible (for the employer), but includes no tax liability (for the employee) and no associated benefit/pension load (for the employer).
