I heard that different engines require different steering fluid on these wranglers and not to mix different kinds together, am I safe using mopar power steering fluid for my ecodiesel?

If you haven't already I would take a look in your manual to see if it recommends a specific fluid. Hopefully some ecodiesel heads will chime in.

@Tredsdert
I bought mine used and didn't come with one.
Tried looking for one online but couldn't find the one for the diesel.

I've bought a few vehicles without the owners manual, this really bothered me. I ended up finding and purchasing several manuals on eBay.

JL & JT Jeep manuals state "...we recommend you use Mopar electric power steering fluid ".

The Pentosin CHF 11S is available at the chain auto stores and can be mixed in with the original fill.

I just filled my system with Amsoil power steering fluid, because it has almost 200F higher flash point and a higher viscosity at operating temps. I had drained it and purged the system for an Apex cooler and boost kit. The total fluid I used was less than 2 pints, which included purging the steering box and the pump, and Apex cooler and lines.

I'm with this guy. I just bought a small container of Mopar power steering fluid from the dealership. It was pretty ridiculously priced for the size. But it's because I was just topping off what was a smidgen low.

Later in the future when I do a power steering fluid flush, then I'll add some better stuff.

Is this the wild Tredsdert we all know? Does the calm and pragmatic Tredsdert only come out late at night? ?

Yeah, as much dumb shit as I do, my goal is still to keep my Wrangler well maintained and running efficiently. Pretty much anything that relates to the engine and or other very important parts, I try not to mess with those too much. :blush:;):like:

What's too much on the engine? :giggle:
It's kind of hard to put in a words, as to it's very individually minded.

Prime example is, I would have never missed with my AC system before, but since all the freon is gone and the systems basically defunct right now, the idea of pulling off the condenser and messing with that isn't as scary right now. It's not like the system is going to get any worse than it already is. That being said, I don't know if I'd want to mess with the AC compressor. If the AC compressor was broken instead of the condenser, I probably feel pretty comfortable with that.

Basically I don't want to break stuff that aren't already broken when it comes to things that will directly affect my ability to drive my Wrangler. Mostly because it is my daily, and without it I'm kind of screwed.

I'm pretty knowledgeable on the coolant system, I'm pretty knowledgeable on the intake and the exhaust systems, I'm a little bit knowledgeable on the fuel line system (though once the fuel lines get into the engine bay, I'm a little more hesitant to play with them), and at this point I have a fair bit of knowledge on the AC system. Most things on the vehicles electrical systems I'm pretty cool with as well.

Ordered the steering fluid for electeic steering, mopar.

I can hear noise when moving the steering wheel. Is my steering failing? Or just needs more fluid, it's at the MIN level.

You may just have a little air in the system. Fill to the full mark. Turn the wheel back and forth, lock to lock, half a dozen times. Check the level and fill as needed. Repeat a couple of times until the sound goes away. If it doesn't go away you may need to do more to fix it.

The fluid is arriving Monday, I'll be sure to try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

@JINO

I see you have a 2021 JL. Over 2 yrs. old and my guess is, you have say 30,000 miles or so on the odometer.

Rather then just topping off the power steering fluid, I would do as I did if you aren't wanting to do a full flush.

With that 16 ounce container, you will have more then enough power steering fluid to do..
