No.

With due respect, your disclosure of a back injury dilutes the accusatory thread title, also.

I too have a back injury, with two general anesthesia surgeries on the books, so I do have empathy for your situation. While comfort is subjective, the stock cloth seats are reasonably comfortable IMO. That said, I recurringly do yoga to stay ahead of the curve, and I am careful to stop and stretch, during prolonged driving, as a hedge against lower back pain etc.

Possibly the seat raising accessory linked in the preceding posts would help you configure a workable solution.
I agree. My back is jacked, but doing 4 back-to-back (pun intended) 8 hour driving days has not produced any back problems for me with the cloth seats. I did find the lumbar knob, tho so maybe the OP hadn't found that gem.

I have adjusted the lumbar knob.

Thanks, I have a dead pedal on backorder with Quadratec. However the seat still doesn’t have much side support either.
I too have a Quadratec dead pedal on backorder. I ordered a set of the adjustable seat jackers yesterday. I have a set of the ones for people with longer than 33 inseam if anyone wants them for a lot less than factory price. I used that set in my JL and it was a little more tilt than I needed, but not terrible.

I think I am just jaded in a bad way, anything with padding and springs is a winner. Too many miles driving HMMWV, 5-tons, and M113 have made a seat of nails feel comfortable.

Coming from a 2019 Toyota Tacoma: the Jeep seats are excellent!

Play with the cushion height in conjunction of the fore/aft adjustment. You should find a position that works.

Good luck!
i am of similar proportions to the OP. There was an adjustment period (although I came from a low sedan, so total opposite). I used a back support from Amazon for a couple of weeks, then did not need it anymore.

I don’t have a prior back injury, but did drive home with a sore back on a couple of occasions after multi-hour trail runs … if you play around, you should find a good position.

This is my first JL (after four JKs). Jeep definitely changed the pitch of their seats; the JK could be adjusted to eliminate the sliding forward sensation.

l in a tall vehicle side support should come from the seat back, I hate dragging my ass over a seat bolster every time I get in and out. I have Beard seats in my CJ with a flat seat and nice side bolsters. They work great even when on my side, but the four point belts are partly responsible...

I actually find the JL seats more comfortable on long trips than those in my wife's LR Discovery.
Only issue I had was finding a long term position for my left foot. The M.O.R.E. dead pedal has made all the difference....best comfort investment for the driver compartment you can get.

Since I was tagged a couple times I thought I'd pop in to provide some insight on the Desert Does It products. I'll reiterate what many have said, seating comfort is ridiculously subjective! Just because one of our solutions worked for one person of a particular build doesn't mean it will work for everyone that has that build.

With that being said, we have the below guidelines to help people choose the right product for them. We also offer a 30 day return period so if it doesn't get you comfortable, you can return (customer pays return shipping unless the product is defective) for a full refund.

Desert Does It Seat Jacker Guidelines:
  • If your inseam is 28"-32", we suggest the Adjustable Seat Jackers that lift the front of seat by .75" or 1".
  • If your inseam is 32"-38", we suggest the Fixed Front Seat Jackers that lift the front of the seat 1.25".
  • If you're over 6'-2" and willing to do whatever it takes to fit in your Jeep, you might find our Seat Slammers do the trick. These are not for the faint of heart as they require cutting off the rear of your seat legs.
Hopefully this helps people understand the options that we have available. If I can help with anything else, feel free to reach out (PM, [email protected], or 702-381-1804).

Thanks
Steve
