I've tried to get my paint issues resolved for nearly two years now through multiple dealerships and they just end up ghosting me. I finally followed up with @JeepCares through their phone support and was told I would get a call back within two days. Unfortunately, that was about two weeks ago.
Hi Nick,

Please send us a private message with your VIN and we can further look into your paint concerns.

I can confirm… there’s no gasket. They don’t even bother painting underneath the hinges, that was a little shocking to me if I’m honest. Did the tailgate reinforcement on my wife’s 24 Willys yesterday and it was just raw metal underneath, no paint.
They still don't paint underneath the hinges but there are new hinges with zinc shims. If you get your corrosion repaired, they will paint under the hinges and you will get the new hinges

I think that's a myth. I haven't seen anyone actually confirm or post one of the gaskets. From an angle, looking at the hinges, it can appear that there is a gasket. But it looks like a different color because it's unpainted and it's such a poor job that it seems like there is a gasket in between.

Can anyone confirm with a part number?
There are new hinges. This is just one of the new hinges, the old part numbers are at the bottom of the page.

So is the shim part of the hinge itself? Or is it placed between the hinge and the door panel? The link only shows the hinge itself.

Part Numbers sometimes change without an update / change to the part.

Found a real picture of the updated hinges. Looks like the zinc shims are part of the hinge.

I wonder if they updated the hood and tailgate hinges too.

Yeah... after thinking about it, I decided to get her some new toys...... and NOT trade her. I'll go back to trying to get the paint fixed. Wonder if jeepcares can help get this moving? Anybody know how to get hold of jeepcares?
IMO your dealer is your problem. Either rotten communications or service, or both! calling jeepcares can't hurt!

FWIW, the corrosion doesn't only happen around hinges. I have substantial paint issues on the bottom edges of the doors as well.
IMO there is an underlying problem with the panels, primer, and or paint. The bubbles show up on edges, surfaces, and hinges.

I have a case open with jeepcares, so, we'll see. As far as the other dealers on the island (there's only 3 and two are same owner)I gave up on them long ago as everything was "It's a Jeep thing" and getting them to even look was a nightmare.

I love my Jeep and hate my dealer! There are multiple threads with the same lament! Good luck with your issue!

The bubbles on the edges of panels is coming from the hem flange. Corrosion starts there and spreads outwards to the exterior of the panels.

If I remember correctly, the prep work was contaminated. Fords continue to have a big problem with this. At least with the Explorers I have seen.
