The hinges are not steel. They're also aluminium. The only steel part is the bolt attaching the hinge to the door.
I'm quite convinced it's because they paint the doors with hinges on, you get microscopic holes or cracks and water gets in that way. This also makes sense for the spots where there isn't anything to cause the bubbling, like on the bottoms of the doors n

I just went through some warranty repair for bubbles at the bottom of the passenger doors. They did a good job, but will be watching carefully.

Note the colour was perfect, just the sunlight varied on the days I took the photos.

washed and wax the jl yesterday and noticed a nickel size bubble on the bottom of my driver side door. the jl is 3 years old. granite color. right now i would have to look for it. at this point i'm not going to worry about it till it burst. then i'll just take it over to my body shop to get it fix. i'm not looking to go to the dealer for them to fix. dont want to deal with the hassle from them.

You might change your mind about the dealership, when several more pop up. Document document document.

Had my front doors fixed last summer, but after past winter I noticed the rear doors started having the issue. Mine is 2019 March build now with 18000 miles, going to be taking it for a fix this fall.

Thank goodness my Jeep doesn’t have rear doors. Sounds like I’m only 50% at risk, then!

Sorry to hear that. I'm giving mine a good inspection, this weekend.

Well, i did a thorough check, of all doors, hinges, and the hood. Zero bubbling, after it being fixed, 1 1/2 years ago.

My 2028 JL Rubicin has been repaired 3 times over the past two years for paint bubbles on all 4 doors, hood, tailgate, and hinges. I am so frustrated as it seems this is going to keep happening. What are my steps and who do I contact?

I’m actually curious to see if one had filed a claim for corrosion prior to the 3 yr warranty if it starts the clock again. I mean at that point there’s a recorded warranty issue which Chrysler had fixed.
I filed a claim at 35k, (May 2020)then at @ 55k, and again at 70k (June 2022). I had to fight for coverage at 55k and they didn't want to do the hinges, but after I called FCA and a handful of calls, it was approved. The 3rd time was approved in a few days. It us in different spots every time.
