please recommend hitch receiver...

Hi All. My first jeep. 2023 Sahara 4 door. Can someone please recommend a hitch receiver that would install on this vehicle?

I would like a "strong" one as ultimately I may use some type of adapter to put a D ring on it.

I found many online. But in the reviews you always fine people saying it did not fit their vehicle correctly (bumper, screw holes etc)

Suggest you head down to one the BIG U Haul shops. They install these things all the time and they know what they are doing and will sell you what you need!

Pick one and install it yourself. Should take no more than 1/2 an hour. Be sure to use red Locktite.

Every hitch I've seen has the same 3,500 pound rating, except the Max Frame from Draw-Tite:

of the ones I looked at, I liked the Curt best. It has great powercoating--no chips and seems durable inside the receiver too. One of the four bolt holes was slightly off on my Jeep, and required a bit of touch up with a die grinder. I think this is due to small differences in how they drill the holes in the Jeep frame, and slight year to year changes, not due to problems with how Curt or Draw-Tite or any of the other known quality hitches.

I managed to install mine without removing the (steel) rear bumper, even though Curt recommended removal. It was fiddly to locate a couple of the bolts to their nuts with bumper in place, but not too bad.

I installed and recommend the Curt 13392.

To accommodate fitment of two of the provided receiver hitch bolts, I did have to use a rotary tool with a coarse sanding drum to enlarge two of the corresponding frame crossmember holes. It required maybe five minutes to get both of them squared away.

The installation instructions did also suggest lowering the muffler to create necessary working space. With a bit of precision wiggling, though, the Curt hitch was positioned and secured in place without having to touch the muffler.

Note that you'll not want to exceed the vehicle's rated tongue weight and towing ability (as stated in the Owner's Manual), no matter if a particular hitch advertises a higher figure for either metric.

Absolutely! It's four bolts that will come with the hitch and the holes are already in the frame. As previously posted, you can do this without removing the bumper. Those complaining of bumper clearance you referred to may have been talking about aftermarket bumpers as some wont clear a factory hitch. But the stock bumper will work with all of the hitches posted up thread as an example.

thanks, I guess next season. I paid cash for it given interest rates, so cant justify major expenses.. Is it better for the car to recover it via points on the frame or via metal bumper?

I installed this exact one on my 2021 Sahara I didn’t have to lower muffler, remove bumper or anything. No die grinding either. Did use a jack to lift it in place as it’s a tight fit on the existing frame. It’s a little longer receiver part than the model for the JK bumper which makes it fit perfect. Nice finish and quality. Got mine “used like new” on Amazon for like $60 bucks.
