Just some thoughts.

I had an Audi A4, loved it. Joined a few forums and saw lots of complaints and concerns. To me mine was perfect, but everyone has different expectations and standards. Audi costed me $45k.

Sold it and bought my JLUR. Love it...everything to me was perfect. And then I jumped on this forum and saw all the concerns and issues. I started to take a closer look and found some minor issues, but overall I’m very pleased with the vehicle.

My steering is good, some others here say theirs is perfect. Again this is all relative to the owner and their expectation. What I may say is good another may say is perfect and another may say is crap.

My paint is OK...there are a few blemishes. It’s not a $200K handbuilt car where the paint is 100% perfect or they start over.

This forum represents probably a few hundred owners who are either die hard Jeep fans or die hard automobile fans which is why we’re on a forum. The average buyer typically would not be here unless they have a problem and then google pops up this site during their search for a solution. They may or may not join.

Is the JL perfect, nope. Are there issues, yep. Will they be fixed, yep. Should you buy one...totally up to you.

LOL, here come all of the ‘mine is awesome’ guys. Haha.

I guess because you got lucky, I screwed up, right?
I didn’t say you screwed up. Maybe it’s not the right vehicle for you, or maybe the timing is off. But I would not buy one in the frame of mind you are in right now, or you’ll never be happy with it.
Just make sure to go over whatever vehicle you buy beforehand to make sure it meets your expectations.
But mine IS awesome by the way, can’t say if I was lucky or not.

I’ll get a JL for sure, just not via an order. I’ll keep an eye on local dealer stock and take a close look at ones that come in and meet my needs/desires. I’ll also be watching the ‘19 updates to see what that brings. I just don’t want to order one and hope it is ok. Going through that and finding it has an issue (should that happen) would just piss me off more than waiting and taking a good look at dealer stock. Hell, maybe I’ll even get a better deal, haha

I see a couple things that could be off on mine but I’ll have to compare it to another one before I can be certain. I’m happy with it overall and it’s certainly nicer than my JK.

Good luck with whatever you decide. And for what it’s worth, the main guy on here lately complaining about his welds... his profile says his build date was 2/12.
Its the same issue I was reading about when I ordered mine, he’s just late for the party. If issues were found on a lot of them back when it first came up, I’m sure its been corrected. As I said, I crawled under mine and inspected them... by appearance anyway.

Quoting you...
“If I’m wrong, change my mind. Please, seriously, do it.”

People telling you that they are having no problems with their Jeep and that it is an awesome vehicle is exactly what you encouraged them to do. It sounds as if your mind is made up and you just want people to tell you that you are making the right decision. If you have doubts, then you are making the right decision. So far, I LOVE my Jeep. Driving with the top and doors off is WAY better than I expected. No problems after 7000 miles. I did purchase the lifetime MaxCare warranty because I keep vehicles a long time and it is a 1st year production vehicle. I can honestly say that I can’t see myself not always having a Jeep in my stable after having owned one.

Just buy it like a used 4x4, test drive it, crawl under it, lookf for bad welds and leaks. 90% of the wranglers on lots have their tires over filled, thats adding into the mix of real steering issues.

Waiting till 2019 may help on some items, if they revisit steering, it will be interesting to see if 2018s can retro fit any changes.

We are currently at 5000 miles and the only issue, the tailgate seems to be a tad sticky. Otherwise its pain free so far.

about 1000 miles now on mine... my biggest issue is the rear windshield wiper sprayer likes to drip after use, i'll take that 10 out of 10 times (i.e., it's not an issue)

i do feel sincerely bad for those with the steering issue, as that is a major issue in my book and i'd be very upset if my Jeep had that issue-- however i think they are in the minority. that is why you test drive the car yourself, before you take delivery

Drill a small hole in your reservoir cap.

I don't get it....you ask people to change your mind and then you flame them for posting POSITIVE comments??!

Anywho, I actually understand some of the concerns you have. Mine is on order now, and some of things I have seen I hope I don't have happen. But no matter what car you buy or when you buy it, there is a CHANCE that you could have problems. You said you had wondering steering during the test drive...since you obviously are keeping up with all the issues...did you make sure the air pressure was set right before the drive? I'm not talking about taking the salesman's word for it (oh yeah, we check that stuff), but see it first hand?

I chose to order in late June. Will it be perfect? I don't know...and sure I can wait until this time next year to get a MY19...or I can wait until 2020, when all the changes from MY19 get worked out....or I can wait until 2021 until those changes are worked out....or I can wait until 2022 until the mid cycle refresh is introduced....or I can wait until 2023 until the bugs are worked out from the mid cycle refresh....or....
