Let's talk off-roading in CO.

Where have you been? Where do you want to go next? Anything you wish you had on the trail or could have been better prepared for?

And the ultimate question, did you need the winch?

We’ve been through Durango, Ouray, and Silverton. We planned two days of wheeling, first day we managed to climb Poughkeepsie in the night and set up camp near lake como, however in the morning I felt like I got hit with a train and ended up being elevation sickness. Good thing I did bring a few of those little hiking oxygen bottle because why not and sure enough we ended up needing to buy more ?‍♂ Skipped black bear pass due to the sickness but will be back this coming July.
And winch was not needed! But oxygen was haha.

Little bit of everywhere, but still so much that hasn't been done yet! Favorite trails would be Imogene and Spring Creek (Dumont). Imogene is such a pretty trail and some obstacles. Spring Creek was just a ton of rock scraping fun in that boulder field.

I've only really used winch last spring when doing T-33 in the snow. It isn't a hard trail, but when it has close to a foot of snow that changes things. We got to about .1 mile of the end and were breaking trail, but sliding all over the place. Decided to call it and had to daisy chain to keep from sliding into the trees.

Photo is Hard Left Obstacle right before the boulder field on Spring Creek.

So far I've only had to use my winch up the first waterfall at Holy Cross. Probably could have made it up but a long line of impatient SxS' got me to just winch up. Looking forward to my first snowy wheeling season.

Colorado is beautiful, so much to do and see. Black Bear Pass is my favorite trail so far, I have not done them all but several around Ouray. No winch ever. I would not camp at elevation if you are not used to it, spend the day at elevation and camp or sleep low. You will keep from getting sick.

How are the trail conditions up there right now? Lot's of snow? Hitting any trails this week?
