Not horrific in the scheme of things, especially these days with what's going on across the globe, including a pandemic and possible WWIII but.....I'm still pissed off none the less! I took delivery in November (waited a long time to order a new Wrangler) and during a recent fill-up I noticed a series of small dents above the fuel filler door. Obviously some low life tried to pry the door out, unsuccessfully, but left damage in their wake. Interesting that there are a number of small dents but no scratches to the paint. Since the damage was new from the last time I filled up, we think it happened at night in the parking lot of a national steak restaurant chain where my son met up with some of his buddies for dinner. The restaurant is located in the larger town that has it's share of crime problems. I'm pretty bummed right now but we have family friends that own an autobody business and I'll take it there this week and see what they say. I'm told they use a ding/ dent repair guy that is really good. We'll see? A few of the dents are right along the crease line and may not be an easy fix but I'm really, really hoping to avoid any type of fill and paint repair job!

Totally feel your pain. Maybe just me, but it seems like it's getting crazier out there everyday...

People suck. They really need to implement nuthooks as a potential consequence for criminal offenses.

It's odd that the attempted theft of a fuel filler door would occur. They can be had for a song on Amazon. If someone was that desperate for an accessory that starts at $30.00, it really does add an additional flourish to the People Suck category. Yes, I'm aware that the OEM fuel door on the OP's Jeep would be more costly.

@Luxy60
The roof of my VW Golf was vandalized in a similar manner when I was in college. The garage that repaired the dents performed a minor miracle, IMO, so I'm confident that similar magic can restore your Jeep to new-looking. ?

Sorry to hear. People suck.

I was thinking of getting a fuel door for my WIllys when it arrives, in the hope that it would deter people from messing with the gas cap. The gas cap seems like an invitation to try and steal gas. I never thought that a fuel door would be a target. If you can afford a JL Wrangler, you shouldn't need to steal a $40 gas door and dent up someone's Jeep in the process.

That's strange, my fuel door is very easy to remove as they just pop in to the sheet metal. Didn't think it would take that much effort to get it out of there.

Can't tell you..shhh
Around here people are punching holes in the gas tank and draining the fuel. It sucks that someone did that to your Jeep but, like many have said, a good body guy should be able to sort that out no problem,

The “dent doctor” is a mobile service, not a body shop. They come to your location with tools that get behind the body panels and gently push the dent out. It doesn’t work if the paint is cracked or scratched through to primer, and it won’t work if there are deep/sharp creases, but yours looks like an easy fix in your own driveway.

Someone was trying to steal the fuel door itself. Like stated above, a good PDR guy will make that go away.

Another thing thats happening here is LED tail lights being stolen. All a thief has to do is grab one and pull it hard. They also rip grilles out to steal LED headlights. It’s getting harder to have nice stuff these days.
A hood lock will help with the grill and headlights. Pulling the rear lights out is a problem unfortunately. Sucks.

Looks like whoever did it would be a good candidate for a buckshot run?. Seriously wouldn’t you love to put a load of salt rock in their tail just for a “teaching moment”?
