Is anyone considering putting on one of the newer grills for its alleged better airflow? I'm not a big fan of the looks, but they're supposed to be significantly better looking in person.

Edit: I'm talking about the new 2024 Wrangler grill and not the "we've know about that for a while" existing grills.

'22 Willys here. I installed the JT grille inserts on mine. FAR less restrictive, and super easy & economical ?

Jeep Wrangler JL New grill for better airflow? 20230623_141854

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not claiming this insert makes the Jeep "Run Cooler". It is however, less restrictive ?

There’s a thread, which I’m sure you’ve seen, on the gladiator forum regarding the new 2024 grill and claims of 10-15* cooler temps although- I don’t think he had a diesel. I am curious on the difference it might make.

No, I offered to help that group out by tracking the build characteristics of their rigs, but the majority of them seemed to be complete assholes. Do you have a link?

I have the 3.6L and did the JT grille conversion last year, but haven’t noticed any reduction in engine temps. Granted, it is a different engine, but still interested to see if the 2024 grille has any affect on the diesel. Please keep us posted and best of luck.

I was looking at doing it, once they are available. Also interested in the aluminum radiator. JT looks pretty open air flow though.

No heat issues at the moment but want to get a bubble camper or at least rent one in the summer.

We have a '21 diesel and tow an offroad trailer. I'm definitely interested in if the new grill helps with temps. Not a huge fan of the new grill but if it helps with cooling I'm sure it'll grow on me!

As I recall, Jeep engineers said the issue is getting the hot air out of the eng compartment, not getting fresh air into it-
That seems very plausible to me. I've had major heat soak issues after taking 15-20 minute stops with the engine off in 100+F temps. The hot air just doesn't vent out of the grille well and makes everything under the hood ridiculously hot. The JL thought the outside air temp was 156 degrees.

Opening the rubi hood vents resolved the problem for me. But it only helps once you turn the engine off. It does nothing while the engine is running. Maybe the new grille vents hot air better once the engine is off.

i believe @Wrangler man may have recently upgraded to vented inner front fender liners; i'm curious to hear what he might have observed since then in his high-heat environment,..

Then a bigger fan would surely help at low speeds, to push all that hot air out of the compartment. Nevertheless, the radiator remains the dominant heat exchange surface.

I don't see the inserts that narrow the slots on yours. Did you remove them altogether?

Not quite sure what you mean. Maybe the Willys & Sport grilles don't have those?
I just simply removed the three honeycomb grille panels, and swapped in the JT style.
