What were your temps before and after?Simple hood hinge extensions along with pulling the under hood sound liner and engine cover allow heat to rise naturally un-impeded. It works driving or parked and don't let folks's speculations dissuade.

My grill has these...Not quite sure what you mean. Maybe the Willys & Sport grilles don't have those?
I just simply removed the three honeycomb grille panels, and swapped in the JT style.
i believe @Wrangler man may have recently upgraded to vented inner front fender liners; i'm curious to hear what he might have observed since then in his high-heat environment,..

3.6 do not have heat issues. Irrelevant. My grill has these...![]()
I'd be very interested to know what temps occurred when and if you had the hood completely off, and then after your modification? Significant numbers either way then you're definitely on to something.Simple hood hinge extensions along with pulling the under hood sound liner and engine cover allow heat to rise naturally un-impeded. Not on my diesel. A matter of fact because I'm paying so close attention to numbers and sounds as soon as I fire up the diesel Wrangler sitting in a closed garage with the temperatures exceeding 100° within 30 seconds I hear that auxiliary fan kick on. Because the engine was completely shut down for more than 24 hours not even a chance to begin to warm up to normal operating temperatures. The fan must have an ambient temp sensor that kicks it on automaticly. It stays on every time come to an idle or slow wheeling. Some folks as in myself included, report the 3.6 cooling fan "jet engine syndrome" has completely stopped with optional venting.
You have basically made a cowl-induction hood, air pressure builds up at the base of the windshield forcing air down. When the vehicle stops, it becomes a vent which lets more air out. No defense against rain intrusion.Simple hood hinge extensions along with pulling the under hood sound liner and engine cover allow heat to rise naturally un-impeded. The two NON diesel owners were amused with your reply? One even gave you hearts?hot and cooler.
I just realized you're not a diesel owner? I assumed you were because you're on the diesel forum. Why would you butcher and modify your Jeep like that? There are no heat issues. The only heat issues I know relatively close to the ones us diesel owners experience would be the 392.You have basically made a cowl-induction hood, air pressure builds up at the base of the windshield forcing air down.
