Not that I'm likely to be in the market again before the JM drops, but I hope whenever they redo the interior, they don't go full touchscreen. I don't think they will, but they do a bunch of other stuff, so who knows.

No one needs a 10"+ touchscreen in their freakin vehicle, IMO.

The biggest things I'd want to see in an interior refresh:
  1. Electronic parking brake (so that the Advanced Cruise Control doesn't just turn itself off when you end up stopped)
  2. Cooled Seats *option*. It's ridiculous to only have heated seats in a vehicle that's likely used more in hot environments vs cold.
  3. Power port(s) in the dash tray
  4. Wireless AA/Carplay (Needs Uconnect 5, but they've used Uconnect 5 on an 8.4" before, so stick with the smaller screen)
  5. I don't know how, but I'd like to see them reconfigure the center dash control panel. There are dedicated buttons for things I've never used - would be cool to have user-configurable buttons (like the AUX buttons) that I can change in the settings
  6. Swap the steering wheel audio controls, so that volume is properly on the left and track is on the right.
  7. I'd like to see a wireless charging pad, but TBH, I don't know where on earth they would put it, realistically. The top of the console is NOT a good option, IMO (that's where my elbow goes).
  8. Adjustable-angle headrests (ala 2022 Compass)

Not popular, but personally, I'd love to see them do away with the fold-down windshield, and use the opportunity to redesign that whole area/system to be *slightly* more aerodynamic and less crack-prone. I don't need a full-on space ship, but even a slight curve would be better, IMO, and the % of owners who have ever folded the windshield down has to be miniscule.
Kudos on getting rid of the fold down windshield. Redo the windshield and the rake.

Dash power ports (Bronco has 2 and a GoPro attachment point)
Wireless charging
Programmable Aux buttons
AA headrests (Badlands trim has this fairly certain)
That's funny.

How to add a CarPlay USB A port + 1 x QC 3.0 USB-A 18w + 2 x 20w PD USB-C ports on upper dash | Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) - Rubicon, Sahara, Sport, 4xe, 392 - JLwranglerforums.com

We already *have* programmable AUX buttons, I'm just asking for more of them. There are at least 3-4 buttons on my dash that I've never used/needed. If they can make the AUX buttons selectable within Uconnect interface, why not other buttons? Super easy - not sure how that's "Bronco-esque"

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/any-alternative-headrests.79506 - and, as noted, Jeep already has these on the '22 Compass, and apparently, the pole spacing is identical, as well. So it's literally just replacing the part on the assembly line with an already-existing Jeep part.

All of that aside, I don't think that looking across the industry at cool things that other manufacturers are doing as a way to get ideas for how to improve the Wrangler (See, Extreme Recon package, vinyl seats, factory-installed carpet delete package).

Unless you're one of the many "I wish they'd let me buy a car with the tech from 1965 in it instead of all of these improvements" type folks, in which case we're going to have to agree to disagree and both just enjoy the trails.

No - I'm cool with advancements, the JL is much more refined and capable than the JK, and the generations before it. I like the move to Armorlite in the interior, it should have been a factory option from the beginning.

I'm just saying there's a lot of things they could do (like opening up the XR to V6/manual with 4.88) or allowing a steel bumper without having to buy LED lighting (that still makes zero sense to me) without changing a thing. There's just certain things that I would rather have a manual/mechanical override (transfer case, e-brake, push start with manual, etc.).

Wireless carplay, wireless charging pads, etc. in a vehicle that gets rained in quite a bit just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I expect, and so far I've been proven correct that if I allow my Jeep to sit outside in a torrential downpour with no tops/doors, that all I have to do is put a towel down on the seat and pull the drain plugs.........that's all I'm getting at.

There's a reason all of the USB ports have covers over them.

Fair enough - though I would wager that you're in a minority of users who let their interiors get rained on. I also agree that carpet delete should be the standard - let those who want carpet pay extra for it, similar to the headliner.

There's a reason all of the USB ports have covers over them.
Can't resist the opportunity to troll you a bit on this one - wireless AA/Carplay + wireless charging would eliminate the need to cover those USB ports, because it would completely eliminate at least most of those USB ports. ;)

Haha, totally didn't think about that........but yes, in a perfect world in theory that would work......minus all the devices that don't have wireless charging as of yet.

Yeah, I run no top half the year in the southeast, so even though it's garage kept....rain happens, bikini top gets forgotten, is what it is. Between Bartact seat covers and Armorlite/Bedtred interior, it's not an issue.

I have a wife and two daughters that all have long blonde hair, and a lab-german shepherd mix, so ... yeah ... armorlite is my next mod, LOL. Just waiting for them to release the JLU cargo coverage.

1) TRying to grash the logic (IF ANY) that we are going to be ordering a 2024 in March, that would be close to skipping a year which Jeep did back in 96.

It seem like the logic is can't get Select Trac so we let them order a 2024 without it still.

2). Ordering Jeeps since '84, and have bought 17 so far, 2 of them came off the lot, only because they were exactly what I was looking for. Never placed an order in March, April, May, but June and July.

I would call my dealer and ask when the ordering banks opened. I would be there morning and almost always be the first guy to order that day.

Earliest I ever got a Jeep was 2nd week in Aug that is ONLY because it came in on the truck that took Jeeps to the New Car Training Center in Dallas Tx.

That is my experience, may it will be another 1996 and I ordered a 1997, there was not 1996...MAYBE????

The Wrangler is really beginning to loose it’s appeal with excessive price gouging, mediocre build quality, and long cycle updates that really are no longer acceptable in today’s market. I believe sales will begin to suffer if Ford can get their act together with the Bronco and if the new Toyota Forerunner is decent. The new Colorado and Tacoma also look promising. While the Wrangler will likely always appeal to hard core off-roaders, most of the new competition can compete with the base Rubicon off road while serving as better daily drivers. A solid axle certainly has its advantages off-road but I’m tired of the drive on the highway…for something that would cost $65,000 to replace….

I've owned most generations of Jeeps - CJ, YJ, TJ, JK. Build quality and long cycle refreshes have been a thing forever. You are right though that the price increases the last few years have gotten out of hand and are likely pushing people away. The other problem they face is that they have sold so many 4 door Wranglers since the JKU was introduced in 2007 and so many of them are still on the road (there's a thriving cottage industry of used car dealers that buy used Jeeps, slap a lift/big tires/bumpers/lights on them, then sell them for ridiculous amounts) that the market for that sort of vehicle has got to be approaching saturation.

On March 19th my 2018 JLUS will be 5 years old. I could virtually order the exact same one today. Same interior, same, same, same. Only very subtle and minor differences. Jeep has given me no reason whatsoever to replace it. If there was an updated model with new features, like a lot of you have pointed out here, I would gladly give Jeep my money. But for some reason they don't want it. So I will keep my 2018, and my money, which I both really like, until there are changes.

I don't care what they do with the parking brake. I sort of like the old school lever that you pull and it's one less thing to break (no actuators, etc)

Cooled seats should definitely be an option, but I'm curious to see how they pull it off because they would need to run ducts along the floor somewhere

The current dash tray design is not great. They should just rethink it and make it more ergonomic/useful (with power ports)

Wireless AA/Carplay is pretty much standard these days on most cars, but it should be combined with a wireless charging pad.

I think they will make quite a few changes to the center stack with the addition of the bigger screen. Agreed that some of the buttons (like hill descent control) that are used less once a month or less by 99% of the owners could be eliminated and moved to the touchscreen.

The steering wheel control position is an FCA/Stellantis/Chrysler thing. Track on the left and volume on the right have been this way forever. I remember it on my 2010 Grand Cherokee SRT8 and even on my 2000 Chrysler 300M (I think). It's also the same on my Viper, so for someone who had Mopars for many years it's second nature and I think many people will be pissed if it changes.

The most common place for a wireless charging pad these days a tray in the lower dash. Like I said, they need to redesign the lower dash and incorporate that.

Yes, the current headrests are pathetic, but I think 2024 may have an "upgraded" interior option, so we will see what happens.

As far as no-one "needing" a 10.1" screen in their vehicle - I think you are presenting your personal opinion as something everyone else wants. I used the 12" vertical screen in my buddy's TRX and it's a.w.e.s.o.m.e. The interface still has plenty of physical buttons for the frequently used stuff, but the screen provides a lot of useful info at your fingertips. In the end of the day nobody "needed" hundreds of things installed in today's cars - electronic fuel injection, airbags, ABS, power windows, etc.

+1 on the folding windshield. COMPLETELY useless, especially considering that there is still a horizontal beam (for rollover protection) across the body after the windshield is folded down. Will also get rid of the ugly plastic windshield supports with holes in the hood (another source of rust) and will allow them to make the glass bigger and the frame smaller (win/win).
