Looking grim for Stellantis

lol I just checked Harley Davidson site for giggles… $54,000 starting price for a RoadGlide. My god !!!!!! And people are worried about Jeep prices.

That’s another company that pooped in its own nest….not only with pricing/value but they also became overtly political in a way that was contrary to most of their customers….way stupid. At least Stellantis has stayed out of the political frey.

They are having to recoup there lost revenue from the EV mandates.
Here in California the only thing on the lot is the 4XE.
That's why I bought a used 2018 Rubicon JL for my wife.

… After reading all the comments I think everyone has valid points, but I’m not sure this is purely a Jeep thing.

Price a new 4-runner, land cruiser, tacoma, bronco, or ranger raptor, and you can see they are all overpriced. Ford has similar quality issues and Toyota is showing cracks as well.

Yet Stellantis is the only one struggling so mightily right now.

We all know that prices, on everything, have gone up across the board. Yes all automakers have raised prices. My Silverado stickered at $56k in 2021 (and $54k in 2019) and is now $64k. But NO ONE has raised prices like Stellantis. Jeeps are priced with luxury SUVs...a Cadillac XT6 Premium stickers for less than a middle-of-the-road Rubicon build. That's insanity. If I re-purchased my 2021 JLUS today, it would be $12k more expensive. That's just off the charts - a near 30% price increase in less than four years. That's not even getting into the problem that Jeeps are near the bottom in quality. So Stellantis has got competition building far better products for less money...and some of those automakers are now reducing prices too.

It’s not just Jeep with inflated prices. It’s ALL of them. But remember what is bringing on these higher prices.

- Start with inflation. The price of everything is up. Your govt’ tariffs on Canadian raw materials like aluminum is a good start.
- New government regulations and safety features
- R&D and all that Green Energy forced on manufactures.
- The need for ALL the bells and whistles to be competitive . How many people do you think would be happy with an affordable base Wrangler like a base JK or TJ were.
For those not old enough , we went though this very thing in the 70s where By the early 80s vehicle prices had quadrupled. There was no way I could afford a new vehicle in the 80s and I had a very good job.

No mention of stagnant incomes or how Wall street affects prices?
What regulations or safety features do you find cumbersome?
JK and TJ's are still available for purchase.
I'm pretty sure there is no forced purchasing of any vehicle on record so why not shop with your wallet and find something that matches your criteria?

I have never thought an American ICON company such as Jeep, Dodge, etc should have Euro owners. The mindset of the European car builder and owner is much different than ours. Volkswagen is reintroducing the Scout brand with 2 and 4 door nodels in 2025 in North America..should be interesting.

Everyone has added options - GM and Toyota have introduced all new competition. No one has increased prices like Jeep - even Toyota's all new midsizers do not have the price increase that the JL platform has seen over the last 4 years. EVEN THE MIGHTLY CHEVROLET TAHOE, which is refreshed with an awesome new interior next year, will only be 9% more expensive than the 2021 Tahoe. If there's any vehicle that could get away with big price increases, that's it...middle aged suburban soccer moms will pay literally anything for a Tahoe.

So no, Jeep's price increases are absolutely crazy and far beyond their competition.

You hit the nail on the head.
The problem is NO ONE wants to order a base model anymore, everyone expects that they should get that top tier Wrangler with all the bells and whistles for Base price.
For example My loaded 2008 Sahara JKU had less options then a base JL does now. A TJ has even less options.

Jeep has been owned by European companies since the 90s (Daimler/ Chrysler). They didn’t do so bad, they designed and marketed the JK/JKU which really put Jeep on the map. The JL/JLU has done even better.

I'm talking about comparably equipped models...or like in the case of the Rubicon vs XT6 Premium, a far better equipped model. Build a JL with the steel bumpers and winch and the price disparity is even more insane.
