The main reason that car sales are down is that interest rates went from 2%-3% up to 7%-8%; ~80% of new vehicles are financed (https://www.statista.com/statistics/453000/share-of-new-vehicles-with-financing-usa/)

Combine that with a ~5% per year new vehicle price increase (surely Jeep is higher than that) and sales are going to drop. Period.

It isn't that "the economy" is collapsing.

Watch, next month the Fed is going to drop interest rates (a bit) and we will see some modest rebounds in sales volumes. It ain't going to return to pandemic levels of demand though.
People's "Personal Economies" are collapsing. You are correct above with interest rate increases and price increases, but the average consumer's take home income is not keeping pace with that. People still have to buy groceries and put a roof over their heads. This is going to translate into an uptick in sales for Jeep Compasses, Re-badged Fiat Pandas and Dodge Hornets. The Wrangler will get them into the dealership, but in harder times people will be more practical in what they buy. Wrangler sales, and Wagoneer sales will naturally decline.

Well I talked with my wife and she was like....that's not the blue I like best. So I started digging and found the ocean blue and she's like yeah that's what I like! So I found one in north Carolina with super low miles and we were close to booking plane tickets for this weekend but decided to go see the colors in person to be sure as there were two dealerships across the street from each other where we could see a hydro and a used ocean. Well...she didn't like either after closer review. The hydro is too light and the ocean is too purple. Guess we are going to be waiting until they come out with a true blue again. I think the closest would be if they brought back deep water blue pearl from 2009. It looks similar to the ocean just without all the purple.

She asked how much it'd be to just repaint and I told her way too much to be worth it and do it right. Told her it'd basically mean tearing the whole jeep down and putting it all back together. She was like....but you can do that right? Haha!
She might like the Fathom Blue coming out late next year.

Also, I had my 2006 Wrangler painted. It cost me about $5k about 6 years ago, but I didn't have them take the engine out, so the firewall and parts of the interior near where your feet go in the front were still the original color. Otherwise, they did an outstanding job matching the 1937 Willys Michigan Yellow swatch I got off Ebay.

Yeah I showed her fathom and its a bit too dark for what she's interested in (plus it only being available if you spend over 100k is a bit of a deal breaker). As for painting, I wouldn't personally be interested unless it's done correct meaning pulling the body off so it can be painted underneath too. Essentially no trace of the old color. I think with cars it's less important than jeeps where it's so easy to see under them.

If you have deep pockets you can have AEV build it. For a "mere" $11,875 more you can get pretty much any color you want: https://www.aev-conversions.com/vehicles/jl-wrangler/jl-wrangler-build-and-price/

Fathom Blue is going to be offered across the board on all 2025 model year Wranglers as a "late Availability" color, probably anything built after February.

Hmmm well maybe we will have to go check it out in person then! Appreciate the heads up.

I the housing crash. When people owned houses they could not afford or when they were paying a huge mortgage on an underwater house, they walked away.
During the housing crash, PMI required a government bailout, the exact thing is happening in the car market, insurance companies will take it in the shorts.

it’s an election year, of course they will drop rates before November. Be that as it may, it is not just me that thinks very dark clouds are on the horizon. After you read the article, which was written today, google “Japan stagflation“ and you might get the idea just how serious it can be.

Yep. It does seem that a fair number of folks are driving monthly payments. I see so many young folks (w/kids in the back seats) driving obviously new[er] and well-optioned trucks and SUVs, and I wonder if there are really that many good-paying jobs out there. Or maybe they've got it all figured out. Well, either way, good luck to them.

Related, and a true story:
On the morning of my JLU delivery appt., as I waited for relevant staff to assemble the ppwrk. for my signature, I watched as a woman walked into the showroom and approached the first salesman that she saw. She practically begged him to get her out of the $750 monthly payment that her BMW, which she arrived in, was costing her. I'm not as well-versed on the BMW line-up as I used to be, but if I had to guess, I'd say hers was a 3- or 4-series sedan.

I truly hope she found the relief that she required, and that she learned the lesson that that episode should have taught her.

Sorry. I refuse to watch videos where some dude is making this expression in the pull frame.

Agree 100%. After giving a few such videos a chance, and being disappointed every time by the non-insightful blah blah blah, I now scroll right past any video where the thumbnail is just a face-full of the narrator looking witless. This M.O. is absolutely rampant in the Jeep YouTube community, too, which does no one any favors.

Not only him and he must be doing something right at JP Morgan. If you are retired from high level management, you probably know economic indicators better than I. Granted, I see the glass as half empty, but even a first year Econ major will admit, we are in uncharted territory! Now please share your perspective?
