If you have little kids like me, don’t waste your money. The car seats will just eat at the leather over time, not to mention the spilled juices, milk, Cheerios, chips, etc. that will stick to or stain it if not wiped up quickly. Sure, the cloth will stain just as well, but if you know that going in, I’d save the $1000.00 or so for the option...

Covering the seat is all well and good, but why get leather if you’re going to cover it? Isn’t the point to enjoy it? Can’t enjoy it from atop a car seat or booster seat... heck, can’t really see it either.

If my kids were older and more respectful of my interior, I’d love to have leather. The leather dash is really nice, but if you’re going to keep the Jeep long term, that dash will be beat up. My brother’s Maserati dash is all warped and the leather back seat headrests on my mom’s Mercedes CLS 55 AMG are warped and hard from the sun.

Leather and sun don’t mix long term...

I used these when my twin boys where in car seats and it helped with the car seats not hurting the leather. They were easy to pull out and put back in for cleaning or if you had to take some adults in the back seat.

I've had both leather and cloth over the years and my vote is leather hands down for ease of cleaning.

My Jeep is the first vehicle I purchased without leather in a long time. Given the chance to do it over I would have gotten leather. The cloth seats do have some advantages, but having had leather for so long it feels like a step backwards for me. That being said, I've enjoyed some advantages with the cloth seats. I much prefer the cup holders on the floor behind the console (standard with cloth) rather than having them in the fold down rear arm rest. Reason being that we often travel with our hounds (who occupy the back seat) on vacation. With the cup holders on the floor they are still accessible (even if the puppy bed is in hammock mode). Those extra cup holders come in really handy on vacations and longer adventures. (I have seen at least one thread on this forum about adding the floor cup holders on jeeps not otherwise equipped with them).

The jeep leather is very nice. Add a sunshade and your good to go.

I personally love the look of cloth interior on my JLUR. I had planned on installing Katzskins but liked my cloth so much I decided to pocket the money. The cloth is very thick, durable and comfortable.

Actually, wet / dirt is better handled with leather seats. Cleaning is easy. I have a small kid and notorious to drip his ice cream or chocolate bar on seats, put his finger prints having the sticky jelly beans or that kind, come out of pool and sit right in the seat, after knowing that jeeps can be washed inside (he has seen videos, he knows it) and I just wipe the seats with damp tissue, let jeep get some sun light and dry the wetness off. Easy to clean. Gained this experience from my first kid, who did all these in my then first car with fabric seats. Though it's personal choice, I like leathers in all conditions.
If you don't care for Sahara logo on your seats, it's good to get good quality aftermarket leather seating with the color of your choice. I like that brown color that comes on luxury cars But stock leather is also good, has only 2 colors

Why even hey a Sahara if you're not going to get leather? You might as well get a Sport S and save the money at that point.

I agree with wrangster. OEM leather options are redicously limited. Get cloth and go for Katzkin after market. The cost is almost the same and the options are nearly unlimited. That’s what I did in my Sport S. I know leather wasn’t an option but that was my plan in advance. Just at least look into Katzkin. Don’t just look at the ads online but call them and ask for their folder on all types, finishes, colors, threads, patterns, and custom embroidery. I guarantee you that you will be much more pleased with your end product. I am!

We got cloth and love it. If we want leather in the future we'll get katzkin leather. So many options. The cloth seats are very confortable. We used the savings to add hatred seats and rising package.

I got the leather in my Sahara and I like it Easy to keep clean especially if you have dogs in your Jeep I live in the northeast and don’t have to much of a problem with the seats getting hot in the sun because summer is short My last Jeep had the dual tops but on this one I opted for the Bestop sunrider for the hard top and I love it Changing out the tops was a bit of a pain in the ass Plus I like the leather on the dash versus the paint If you have dogs definitely go with the leather
