Just ordered a 392 Moab for my wife. I’m a top down all Summer long in Florida Jeep guy. How bad am I going to hate the black leather? She has had cars with both good and bad leather. The bad one held the heat in forever. The good one was white and perforated. Any of you current leather seat owners have any input or suggestions? I would look to swap with someone who has cloth, if it was mine but she’s fine with leather.

Did you order the Jeep with remote start and air conditioning?
If you did you should be good....
At some point Jeep will have to add ventilated seats like my wife's GC has.

I have the black leather in mine, in SW Florida. I wear shorts daily, and have no issues with it.

Yes. It’s loaded up. I keep the top and doors off of mine so remote start doesn’t help me. I’m guessing she will keep her doors on and use the SOT often.

Glad to hear that.
Putting in one of the mesh sunshades that goes over the top makes a big difference in keeping the seats cooler
I’m sure she’ll close the SOT top when she parks. I think that top or a mesh one like you mentioned is a must have for leather seats. I

We've got leather in both ours. When I initially was shopping for mine I sat in both cloth and leather and the cloth seats were like sitting on a rock. The leather felt much more plush. There is 0 chance I would get a Jeep with the cloth seats. As for the heat, I've got the hot heads sun shade on mine and my wife has the Jeep seat towels that she throws on when she leaves hers parked outside in the summer. Keeps it nice and comfortable never had an issue with them being too hot.

Central Florida with black leather seats here. They do fine most of the time. When the sun is blazing, though, they do get hot. The Jeep seat towels work well for the really hot days. I also have neoprene seat covers when my family and I take beach trips. Overall still very happy with the leather.

I live in SLC. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I just sold my Sahara that had leather not too long ago and ordered a Willy’s with cloth. Much better with top and doors off.

My wife has leather but keeps doors and top on…no issues for her and she likes it.

I had seat covers in my Sahara for the summers. Keeps the heat down and protects the leather from the sun

We had thought about just using towels in the summer to sit on.

Based on your concerns/preferences, it doesn't sound like it's necessarily "for my wife". :)

Kinding aside, black leather is fine here in AZ, but who would take their top off in the summer in Phoenix? I guess the main question is, does she go roofless as well, or just you?

By the way Rick, mine also has the SOT.

I am going to be relocating to Phoenix this summer, probably roof on…doors off. 😂😬😂

2026 Willys 2.0T 2DR Hard Top in Mojito built for me!
My 2026 Willys order has the CBQ Perforated Leather seat option.

Since it's a 2 door hard top I plan to get a Sunrider, but I'm also considering taking off top and/or doors if I feel brave enough next summer. How does the leather fare if you happen to get caught in the rain? Is it a "wipe down immediately" situation or are they pretty hardy?

My leather lived an abused life. It got rained in quite a bit, dog hair, dog claws, the desert sun and sand. I just used a high quality leather conditioner/cleaner once a week and it was fine. I wiped everything down, seats, dash (it was a Sahara) shifter boot. Everything looked good when I sold it.

I would leave the top on and ride doorless from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I did get seat covers this past summer but that was because the leather would get hot and I was tired of that.

The leather is very durable and stands up to regular abuse quite well. Just condition and clean it regularly, weekly in the summer and you’ll be fine. Only takes 10 minutes
