If it does end up being a delay could it be the battery in the fob getting weaker?

I have a 2021 and just noticed this happening for the first time a couple months back. With the key fob in my pocket I would push the tic-tac button on the handle with my index finger and it locked on first try. (phone is NOT the issue - worked with and without phone near me).

Started not working and I would literally need to take the key out of my pocket, hold it in my hand, and then it worked immediately. Thought the battery was bad, but tested it and it is a strong 3.0 volts. Ruled that out.

I'm a little perplexed, it worked flawlessly for over 1 year.

it’s been an issue since the beginning using two pulls. owners were complaining about it so much in the beginning 2018 and 2019 I ordered my 2019 without it.

Mine only works if the keyfob is in my hand while pressing the button. This defeats the whole purpose of the feature bc i then have to grab the key so why not just lock it from
The keyfob

DO NOT touch the handle in any way to LOCK. Just use a finger and press the button. DO wrap your hand around the handle to UNLOCK.
This, otherwise jeep needs to think do you mean open door or lock door?

Honestly my tech handicapable wify showed me this, never knew what the funny little button was, works 100% first time on a 4dr 18.

Happens to my 21 JLR and my Wife's 21 JTR since new

Mildly frustrating, but I think it's more of a timing issue. Wait a beat or two and they work.

We always touch the button without grabbing the handle. Still an issue

I tried being more patient and waiting 5 seconds. That worked. Every other vehicle I have owned or we currently own works instantly so I assumed there was something wrong.

@S_McWilliams

You will get the knack of it. It's a you issue (your not being familiar with the vehicle) and not a JL issue.

In time.... with a little time spent with your JL, you will have no issues with proximity.

Ain't nobody got time for reaching into their pockets for shit. ?

(I actually love the convenience/laziness of the Jeep's lock-unlock proximity setup and don't use my fob for anything other than the occasional remote start)
