So just yesterday I locked my wrangler by only pressing the button on the exterior of my handle. This morning the vehicle is completely dead. This happened almost a year ago. Because it's a 4Xe, I just plugged it in and had not had an issue since last night.

My suspicion is that this method is not putting the Wrangler into low power mode, thus draining the batteries.

No. I have a pedal commander and a JL Tazer but those have been in since day 1

If you drained it at home/garage both times, I would think what accessory/phone is keeping the UConnect alive for the whole timeout period (screen is still active and playing music from your phone inside the house)

other battery drainers are dashcams, lights (accidentally on), and things connected to the rear cargo 12v port (its always on by default - unless you change fuse location)

did you set the tazer to allow inmotion input for navigation?
i believe this setting keeps the radio from powering down fully. it says it right in the manual.
just something to look at.

No, I don't use that feature. Even so, this has only happened twice in almost a year. I think it's specifically related to the handle button situation.

Interesting but no. The vehicle was completely "off", but I didn't press the key fob after "handle button" locking it.
