Why don't you go buy a new $50,000 jeep, pay the extra $495 for proximity entry, and then see how it feels to have to pull on the handle for six seconds for your jeep to decide to let you in.

Mock that all you want, but people here are paying good money for what is supposed to be a good product.

Seriously, that's embarrassing. In a parking lot with your brand new $50,000 truck with the temp tags on it, and already it doesn't work right. Jeep should be ashamed.
Chillax, sarcasm is my second language...
I actually did order a 50K truck and decided to pay an additional $500 for this, so I will keep you posted on that...
but still, I don’t think thay’s the end of the world either...

@The Great Grape Ape - I agree with you for the most part on the above. However, what I'm confused about still is why, once its fully awake, it can detect the prox and open the doors immediately. It can cycle through locking and unlocking instantly, over and over. Curious behavior, IMO.

I think a poll could potentially be beneficial as that would allow FCA to gauge the issue with numbers to back it up.

Dude, it’s all fun & games until you drop your Quiche while trying to open the doors to your 4x4 in front of the Whole Foods... then things get Real !! :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, I agree that is odd, and it may have something to do with sleep settings to save battery or something if it requires Canbus + Uconnect processing power, etc.

I think that since it works better once awoken shows that it’s more than just a simple if/then type recognition of a simple system, and likely doesn’t act independant of a more complex setup to do authetication. This may be a design oversight, in what may very well be their first implementation of this new system/fob. Definitely needs more owner/FCA feedback to improve. Hopefully a fairly easy and quick fix that can simply be pushed with a future Uconnect update, etc.

Undoubtedly annoying to have it work then not. On our old 2011 GC as the fob battery aged (like 3 months, not years) it would lose connectivity to the remote in my left hip pocket, and pop up the warning, and even with the JK in winter I’ve had it not unlock remotely (even with a recently replaced battery) unless I touched the fob to the vehicle (twice wouldn’t unlock at all and triggered alarm from key entry). Failures like these are expected, especially in extreme cold for the JK fob, but something as universal as this is a bit annoying even if it is just a pause for some.

However sleeping and never acknowledging it would defeat the purpose for me which is to have my fob remain secure in my ski jacket or backpack and not have to retreive it. Though if a door pull wakes and then a 2 second pause achieves it, then I would still be fine with it and adapt accordingly; though still prefering not having to accomodate the system and it being more seamless.

Made a quick video for those that have not yet experienced the issue.

Not sure if it’s similar here but on my Mustang, I’d barely touch the inside of the handle first to unlock the door, then pull it...
Or hit the button on my Sorento

A couple of us have tried finding the sweet spot. But, there doesn't seem to be one. Grabbing the whole handle or not...makes no difference.

Oh, and it does the same thing when trying to lock it by pressing the button.

I've come to find if I place most of my hand (down to my thumb) behind the handle then pull straight out it opens every time. Slowly

For those of you that are experiencing this, there is definitely a problem with your Jeep, because mine works very well and very consistently, so what they have CAN work properly.
Hope they can get it corrected easily for you guys.

Would you be able to take a video demonstrating this from the "sleep" position that others are having issues with? I would like to see what is considered working well on the JL before I place an order.

If it wasn't raining, I'd go out and make one for you. Mine, obviously, doesn't work correctly, thus the video I made last night. But, like I've said before, once the system is awake, it works instantly...and for about one minute afterwards. Once the one minute time limit has been reached, it's back to being asleep, and subsequently, square one.

So, a video of it working properly would be just like mine, only it would work instantly once you touch the handle, and would work regardless of time interval between activations.

Out of curiousity, did you do the Uconnect update from a couple weeks ago? Someone mentioned maybe that could have been the culprit as mine worked perfectly for the first 3-5 days of ownership, but not since. Had her 1 month, now.

I get that. I would like to see a video of one that is supposedly working perfectly (since there is apparently only a few out there) to see if it is indeed like our Grand Cherokee, or if it still works poorly in comparison. One man’s perfect may be another man’s idea of a flaw.

I hope for the best and if some are indeed working, that is optimistic, but the videos shown so far have been abysmal.

Quick question for what I have read the JL only has Keyless enter and go on the driver, passenger, and tailgate. If you have passengers that are seating in the back seats do you still have to unlock the doors with the fob or does it unlock all doors once you pull on one of the doors with the sensors?
