OK, now that I've figured out what the real problem is, what's the sequence? Fuse first then cables, or does it really matter?
If in stock configuration, YES. If Aux is bypassed, NO. You would have to connect the tender to the Main positive and the disconnected Aux negative and charge it separately. If you hook up a battery tender to the main battery, will it also charge the small aux. battery?

Please read (very funny and answers the question): https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/battery-maintainer-question.87013/post-1825354If in stock configuration, YES. If Aux is bypassed, NO. What exact error are you seeing? Can anybody help me with this?
On all the videos I’ve seen when you remove the ground and fuse 42 the ESS light on the dashboard is also gone. This is not the case for me. It’s still flashing that the it needs service. What exact error are you seeing
Did this bypass to my JL Sport, 3.6, last January. Because I usually only drive about 10 miles at a time and sometimes only every other day I stay in the 13.9 to 14.4 range unless I do our road trips for hours. Then I get just as you have in the upper 12s/low 13s until I return to my normal driving routines. Can anyone tell me what the voltage reading is on the dash after deleting the Aux Battery? I have pulled the F42 fuse and taped off the aux neg cable from the main battery and after a 8+ drive to Central Florida my voltage stayed at 12.7 with only increasing when letting off the gas and then it would go right back to 12.7.
Try pulling fuse and undo the cable again, and driving around for a while to see if it self corrects. I noticed that when I performed the mod to mine the radio went wonky for a day. Didnt connect to phone, reverse cam went black, next day no lines, auto switched to radio insted of bluetooth. All has been working fine after a couple days. I didnt get any dash errors though.I finally did this mod after following it for months. BUT, now I have a problem:
After I removed fuse 42 and removed the aux ground, I started her up..
I got two dash errors...
Service Airbag System
Start/stop unavailable
I put everything back to original, and the Service Airbag System light stayed on, but shortly after restarts it went off and everything went back to original.
I still want to eliminate the ESS system battery, so how do I fix the problems?
Thanks!
