He and I butted heads a few times. But I'm pretty sure I've (erroneously or not) butted heads with most everyone here.

I’m not computer savvy with car stuff at all and I recently bought and used jscan for my axle swap. I really enjoy it….user friendly and simple. Also seems like you can get pretty technical with it but I’m just grateful I can change the axle ratio, tire size, stuff like that with the click of a button.

Yes…supposedly it changes the shift points in the transmission so the gears in the axle and the gears in the transmission synchronize correctly. I got to say I can’t really notice a big difference going from 3.45’s to 4:10’s and having the same 315/70/17’s the whole time but that’s what I read with the research I did.

Yep. If you don't your speedo will be off, your transmission (assuming an auto) probably won't like 8th and won't be shifting optimally, and your gas mileage will suffer. There are supposedly bizarre issues if you don't change those settings with a manual trans + the latest firmware updates, but I'm not sure how much of that's been confirmed.

Most people either use a Tazer or a JScan to change those settings. Tazer does a crapload of cool shit (turn assist FTW), but the user interface and instruction manual are severely lacking.
