I have a ‘20. Both of mine have broken. I used to small brackets that look very similar to your pic to address the issues. Honestly Jeep should change to horrible design or adopt similar CM to address the issue before the Jeeps leave Cleveland.

Yes there are brackets to install(Google it) ..I think $20 and you get 1 for each side. I had my driver side one replaced under warranty and it was like 400 bucks because it has the home link wired in it. I then put the brachets on. Yes jeep needs to have beefier design on a 45+k vehicle.

These plates I received are a very tight tolerance fit. Use pliers to install...

The hinge itself is not a design flaw. It is the visor shape at the corner where I circled. When visor is down 2/3 of the way it blocks your view so natural reaction is to push it towards the windshield as much as possible. In that case, the corner hits the A pillar/windshield trim and crates a levage force that wants to pull the hinge out, which is not the motion it was design to do.

The reinforcement could make it stronger but the interference is still there every time you try to swing the visor all the way out closer to the windshield.

I just missed the warranty expiration date. Cost me $38 bucks for a new one and $35 for the kit to fix it so it never happens again. Amazon link I like the tapered edge that these aluminum plates have. They allow for extra clearance between the plate and the visor. You install the drivers side with the opening facing the windshield, and the passenger side opening facing the pass. seat.

Are those aluminum plates from Amazon something that one should consider installing *before* their visor breaks? I have a 2021 and no issues so far, but if this is a good preventative measure it might be worth installing them now?

I certainly would install them before they break . Apparently if you already have a broken visor, you can simply install the bracket and continue to use the broken visor

I did mine as a preventative measure after seeing a few threads here about broken visors. I would recommend getting the aluminum holders rather than any plastic ones. The plastic ones can crack if you over-tighten them during installation.
