profits drive ALL businesses, but when the faithful QUITE allowing it aka QUIT buying the poorly made products things will change!!! the faithful hardly bikers put up with hit + miss quality + still buy so Hardly continues to BS them. if a business can sell cheaper made for more they WILL + do you REALLY think anything but their PROFITS matter!!!!

On the bright side my neighbor, an oil pipeline welding inspector is going to ask a couple of his friends with a different certification to inspect my JLU frame welds. If this happens i will have some more ammunition against jeep for these welds.l0

Weld 10 oil pipes under and attached to the frame , seal the ends with water-proof ends , and Presto : you will have buoyant floating Jeep to raft the rapids . Just attach a big rudder to the spare tire carrier , and you can float all the way down the Mississippi .

Pics of my welds. These wouldn't have passed my 9th grade welding class let alone should be on a On road vehicle. Sorry about some of the pic quality...my camera is garbage. This is only maybe a 3rd of the welds that had slag and missing paint on them. So we have porosity, slag, lack of penetration, incomplete welds, wandering welds, and a shit ton of weld splash. Not pictured were all the weld drips/overweld
Overall I'd say 85% of my welds have slag on them and are missing paint. A lot of porosity too. Some of the others who have posted have welds worse than mine. Left side seemed worse than the right...especially under the doors. I sent Jeep Cares over 150 pics and they blew it off. at the time of these pics this jeep had seen colorado rain 3 times and had about 1k miles on it.

Even a European-owned fca cannot blow off the NHTSA inspectors .

No one is posting pics on how the welds should look like... Example other makes and model vehicles , tacomas , maybe old wrangler JK's...

Everybody is just posting their shitty welds and saying its a SHITTY WELD.

Here you go. Never saw this on my (former) JL.
Go to your local jeep dealer and look at the remaining JkU's. I've looked at about 6 now and the welds look acceptable. Occasionally some weld drip on the passenger side but I didn't see anything alarming. Hardly any slag either. If you like the ride of the JKU I suggest going that route rather than a JLU at this point since even the newer build dates are showing awful welds. I've seen this on nearly every JLU at 3 dealers in Northern Colorado for the last 3 weeks. I've been looking a lot. Showed a dealer the pics today and they were stunned and kinda made a scary face when I asked if you'd want your family in one.
