So I have a 2023 JL unlimited on 37’s running 513 gears. So the temp gauge on the gauge cluster never moves no matter what, but the off road gauges on the radio show my temp running 220-235 at times, and same with the oil temp. It’s out of warranty, but Reguardless I feel like replacing the radiator with an upgraded 4 core radiator and possible an oil cooler. Has anyone else had these kind of issues and what are some fixes?

How is it out of warranty? It's one year old?

Regarding the temp, I'm sure everyone has about 12 opinions, and they are all probably correct because they just know.... but in my opinion, 220 is not terrible. I think the fan comes on around then. 235 is on the high end, but again, not sure this is something to worry about. I also think they run these things hot due to emissions. Not sure what the thermostat setting is from factory, but I think it is around 195 to 210.

The radiator is more than capable of keeping these Jeeps cool. If they weren't, they wouldn’t cool down as soon as the fan kicks on high speed.
I know my Jeep will run over 110C then as soon as the fan kicks on high speed, it will cool down to 89C in less than a minute, no way that would happen if the radiator was inadequate.
Best bet would be to get an aftermarket fan controller that would kick the fan on sooner.

I'm confused....why is a 2023 JL out of warranty?

Also need to know what engine you have so we can provide a more concise analysis and response.

I haven’t heard of gears and tires voiding an entire warranty. Warranty that applies to axels, suspension, maybe… but I wouldn’t think your entire powertrain warranty is void.

Out of warranty because it has 40,000 miles on it. I’ve taken it on about 3 big trips already out west.

opinion 3, leave it alone, save your time money, stop worrying. 230, while high , maybe not normal to us old school, but is not out of normal operating range. Heck, fan doesn't kick on high till about 230 or so.

Coolant won't even start to think about boiling until over 260.

I say this knowing what my new 23 3.6 did, same as yours. Now have a whopping 4000 miles, temps are down a little, but first few months, regularly saw 238, and as soon as fan kicked in, temps dropped back into 220 range. Like you, dash gauge never budged off just below half way.

fun fact, my mpg sucked until this week, all of a sudden, i went from lucky to get 16, to now hitting 19.6 and i think it's running cooler, 210 around town. must have finally learned and tuned itself.

I have the 2.0 and too notice high temps at times, most pronounced while driving at highway speeds up mountain grades. I never let it get over 240…though 235 is pretty common. It’s good to be aware but don’t overthink it. These things can run hot…., not sure a bigger radiator will help much.

My recommendation is to do the grill insert swap (honeycomb) first. Why? It is easy and cheap and allows more CFM to flow across the radiator keeping temps down. The more open pattern definitely helps keep temps down. In my normal driving I see 195-205 with this config and it keeps temps in check while underway. What it doesn’t fix is temp buildup while idling, then it will creep up until the fan controller finally turns on then it cools down quickly, either way in general I believe my Jeep runs cooler in general. Remember when the Gladiator came out one of the biggest challenges was cooling, they did lots of work to improve air flow, one of which was the different grill with larger openings and a wider honeycomb pattern.

This is the way the jeep Wrangler and Gladiator cooling system works
The thermostat starts to open at 190 degrees and is fully open at 212 degrees
The radiator fan comes on at about 15% fan speed at 221 and 75% at 231 degrees
This has been a ongoing concern with a lot of people with modified jeep with large tires low gearing and pulling heavy loads Like me
I tried a lot of different solution including grills / larger radiator / Large pusher fan without ANY results in lowering coolant temps
What I did discover is that the tight factory and Mishimoto core will NOT pass free flowing air and any speed. I got very little air to pass through the radiator with a large high volume high pressure fan mounted to the condenser. The air would hit the core and shoot out the gaps between the condenser and the rad. core
The only way is to suck air through the rad. core
6 month ago I came across the RPM Extreme JL fan controller. PROBLEM SOLVED
I now can run all day at 190 to 195. The highest temp I have seen pulling a long 10 mile hill was 212 degrees
Lower coolant temps
Lower oil temps
What supersized me was my oil catch can collects less the half the oil it did before the fan controller
I am open to answering any question you may have

My 2018 jk would hit in the low 240s when pulling my little trailer up into the mountains. Still the gauge barely moved. The JL doesn't budge when temos are 230s. Totally normal. I think the highest ive hit was around 240 and the fan kicks into high speed and drops temps back down. And I'm on 35s with 4:10s. Normal, at least for the 3.6 from my experience.
