I bought my Jeep just over one month ago. It was new. This past weekend I did White Rim Road and found that my transfer case jumps out of gear and into neutral quite a bit. Drivig though Cortez to get there, the roads were snow covered and icy. I put the Jeep in 4 high and it often jump into neutral. I find that to use 4 high, I have pull the lever back gently and not all the way until it stops. That seems weired to me. If I pull it all the way back to the 4 high position, it jumps into neutral often.
Further more, when climbing the hill to Murphy's Hogback campground, the road was very muddy and very steep. I was in 4 low and mid way up the transfer case jumped into neutral again. I had to stop to put it back in 4 low and then could not continue. I had to back down the mountain and start over. This time I held the lever in 4 low. It tried to jump in neutral half way up again. However, I was holding it in 4 low and thus it stayed in 4 low.
Is this a common issue with the JLU or is it a bad transfer case?
