if you walk from the jeep to behind it to get to the mailboxes then it won't do the 3-honk thing - I learned that in this exact same scenario! just keep to the back side of the jeep relative to your driver's door. it seems to only do the 3-honk as soon as you cross to the front side of the vehicle.

I think the goose gear is plywood that has either line-x or some other laminate coating on it? I didn't do a seat delete, but ended up building a frame from aluminum and then the "door"/top out of aluminum sheet with hinges to the aluminum frame, and added a carpet lining to that. It worked...

Same thing happened last week - CEL but no error codes. Assuming it's the gas cap issue, but there were no error codes though the CEL was still on after a few days. Hopefully it clears soon!
